willaful My goodness, I knew the beginning of the poem but I had no idea the last two lines were from it. I'm not sure where I know them from, maybe quoted in another book or in a dedication... that's going to drive me up the wall... 1y

rretzler I loved Evangeline too. It always intrigued me. I also liked The Song of Hiawatha. I‘m not a big poetry fan, but I do like epic poems like those of Longfellow. 7y

Aimeesue I grew up in Massachusetts and my grandfather would always recite his version of this poem, reworked to include one on the lesser known riders from his town: "Listen my children and hear my epistle/ of the midnight ride of Israel Bissel." ??? 7y
