Carved in Bone: A Body Farm Thriller 1
Carved in Bone: A Body Farm Thriller 1 | Jefferson Bass
14 posts | 27 read | 19 to read
A womans corpse lies hidden in a cave in the mountains of East Tennessee. Undiscovered for thirty years, her body has been transformed into a near-perfect mummy. Clueless, the local police enlist the help of Dr Bill Brockton, renowned anthropologist and founder of the University of Tennessees Anthropology Research Facility - the Body Farm - where human corpses are left to the elements, and every manner of decay is fully explored for the sake of science and the cause of justice. The body has been found in Cooke County, a remote community thats clannish, insular and distrustful of outsiders. When Brocktons autopsy discloses an explosive secret, old wounds are reopened and feuds rekindled. As the powerful and uncooperative sheriff and his inept deputy threaten to derail Brocktons investigations, even Brockton, after years surrounded by death and decay, is baffled by this case unfolding in a unique environment, where nothing is quite what it seems.

4/5 Even though I (mostly) figured out the twist about halfway through, I was still surprised by the turns it took to get there. I really enjoyed the writing style and characters. #booklystats

Insomnia at its finest. Thank goodness I have Panda to keep my company. #dogsoflitsy

I am really loving this book so far. The main character is easy to fall for. 😍 And although it‘s filled with technical jargon occasionally, it‘s not overwhelming or hard to understand; which is appreciated.

#sorrynotsorry I don‘t feel like working. All those numbers make me dizzy today. I‘m just going to dig into this book and enjoy some silence before all the weekend chaos begins. 😍

So, this book was pretty good. My first by this author. I wished for the second book on PaperbackSwap but I don't see them getting a copy so I'm going to cave and buy book two 😂

Crinoline_Laphroaig @ReadingEnvy For every bingo you get entered into drawing. Filling out the card gets you another entry. Grand Prize is a tablet. Lots of smaller prices from local vendors. Last year I one jars of honey and apricot preserves from farm. 6y

I enjoyed this month #booksandbrewsclub selection. I just skimmed over the really bloody parts. Mostly I attend to support Local Fat Toad Brewery. The fact that good beer is being served in Mayes County Oklahoma is a miracle in itself. Today's choice was a Blueberry Kolsch made with local berries. Plus how awesome is it that it's sponsored by our Library. We have the coolest librarians #librariesrock 🍺📚🤓

Johanna414 If my library held book club in a brewery, I‘d totally attend! 6y

Author is coming to my local library this summer. In preparation Library Director pick first in series for our monthly #booksandbrewsclub meeting. I wish I could say I loved it. I did really enjoy main character but all the blood and gore and accompanying forensic science discussion is just not for me.

Pretty good.

GarthRanzz I have a T-shirt with a similar saying; I‘d rather be a book dragon than a book worm. 6y

I really enjoyed this book! It appears to be the first in a series. It has action, likable characters, and a good storyline. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes suspenseful crime novels. It is very similar to Bones (the tv show). All in all, a great read!

TrishB I think I'm on about number 7 so far 👍 6y

Guys, I am so overwhelmed with how thoughtful my Secret Santa gift is. Missy went above and beyond in picking out things she knew I would like. Chocolate, Starbucks, bath bombs, and books?!? Could it be anymore perfect?? Thank you so much Missy!! I love everything. ❤🎅🏼🎁🎄#secretsantagoespostal #wintersolsticebookexchange

Reviewsbylola Also, I haven't read either book and I loved reading your notes about why you chose them. I will have to have my dad read A Killing in the Hills when I'm done because it sounds right up his alley and he also works in West Virginia a few days a week (Wheeling), so I think he will enjoy it as well!! @MMenefee 7y
