Why I Love My Library: Essay Contest Entries, March 2012 | Morrill Memorial Library (Norwood, Mass.)
post image

In less than a week I‘ll be back in the States 🥳🥳🥳so Ive started requesting library books from my local branch 🙌🏻 💕📚3 holds have already come in🤓#LibrariesRock 🔹Top title that got cut off is House of Broken Angels🔹

Cathythoughts Ahhh ! That‘s very exciting 2mo
Cinfhen It really is @Cathythoughts !!!!!!! Free books!!!!!!!!!! 2mo
Suet624 I'm so excited for you. I really liked Say Nothing and Broken Angels. 2mo

Cinfhen Is it terrible to be more excited for the library than my family @suet624 ?!? 😜 (edited) 2mo
Suet624 Not at all. (While I love my children they don‘t bring the same kind of comfort that a library does.) 2mo
Cinfhen Ha😂😂I knew you‘d understand @Suet624 my fellow 🦀 2mo
TrishB Well books and family - what more could you want! 2mo
Kalalalatja I love your planning ahead 🙌 2mo
Cinfhen Ha!!! @Kalalalatja and I have 8 more books on request 🤓 2mo
Cinfhen I‘m giddy just thinking about it @TrishB 🥰🥰🥰 2mo
KarenUK I‘m a total planner too.... love how organized you are! 😘💕 2mo
MicheleinPhilly 😂😂😂 I love this. 2mo
Cinfhen Early retirement has some benefits @KarenUK @MicheleinPhilly I put my free time to good use 😉🤓😂❣️❣️ 2mo
Kalalalatja Will you even have time to read that many books? 😅 How long are you there for? 2mo
Cinfhen 7 weeks @Kalalalatja Think about how much damage I can do!!!!! 2mo
Kalalalatja Ah, that makes a lot more sense, then! 😄 I got you a very (very!!!) late birthday present, but I think I‘ll wait with sending it to you, so it won‘t spend the summer at the post office, or risk being send back to me again 👍 2mo
Cinfhen You‘re so sweet @Kalalalatja I didn‘t know you had a package returned to you😱😱😱 2mo
Kalalalatja Oh no, I didn‘t, but I know at Danish post offices, a package will be sent back if it isn‘t picked up within 14 days, so I just assumed POs had similar rules in different countries 😅 2mo
Cinfhen They do have that rule here @Kalalalatja but I‘m glad it hasn‘t happened ( yet) 🤞🏼 2mo

Turns out, American copy wins. This is why, and this is why I‘ve lost my bookish mind....last night I noticed in the British copy, 2 things were missing: Map end pages of Ievoli, AND the family tree (which I have posted below). I want you to know I didn‘t sleep well last night (hence losing my bookish mind over details). I went to Barnes and Noble today to secure an American copy. I left BN on a bookish high and drove through puddles of sewage👇🏽

JanuarieTimewalker13 There was some kind of major poop dilemma at Houlihan‘s and my car still smells like a sh&tmobile. This too shall pass. The things we do for book love. Lol 3mo
JanuarieTimewalker13 If I hadn‘t had a library copy initially, I would‘ve never known the difference in the 2 editions. #Librariesrock 3mo
marleed I‘m fascinated by the UKvsUS edition of books. I want the UK Daisy Jones! I just saw Cecilia Ahern post the cover for PostScript and I bet that the UK cover! 3mo

JanuarieTimewalker13 @marleed I like the different covers, but I want the guts to be the same. Lol I have the BOTM of DJATS...love both the American and British ones...loved that book! Will never let go of it, but I want to listen to audiobook next year, bc it‘s supposed to be a great format. 3mo
marleed @JanuarieTimewalker13 DJATS I listened and read simultaneously! And then I immediately relistened (first time ever!) to see if I could pick up on any nuances- having known the end. 3mo
JanuarieTimewalker13 @marleed that‘s so funny bc I wanted to immediately re-read it too, but I got sidetracked with other books 3mo
cookreadsleep I loved the family tree - the book wouldn‘t have been the same without it! 3mo
JanuarieTimewalker13 @cookreadsleep I agree! It was especially helpful in the beginning. Oh my goodness this book is incredible. 3mo

I am surrounded by quiet this early morning with the exception of church bells and birds‘ song. Clock ticking.
Found this gem at the library, of course! Started it last night. How little I know of Mary Shelley‘s life.

This was a LOT of work, but I got to shop early. Just got it all packed up. There was a second room with twice this many books. I'm exhausted. #librariesrock #FriendsOfTheLibrary #BookSale

I see nothing wrong with loading up with library books, even when I have a TBR stack taller than myself. New Turtledove alternate history book was worth the trip alone!!

#LibrariesRock!

Crazeedi I say go for it, grab the books when they are available! Enjoy! 7mo

Mehso-so

Picking this book was #blameitonlitsy and #readingparis motivated. I grabbed up a library copy, which suits me fine. Especially since I didn‘t love the main character, Aimée or the author‘s style. A good mystery should make me want to do nothing but plow through to the end. This, not so much. But, ahh...Paris.

Carolyn11215 I think I fell for the books because of the descriptions of Paris neighborhoods. I find Aimee really annoying these days so not sure whether I‘ll continue to read. I think I got through about 15 of the books. 8mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Carolyn11215 I liked that part the best, but Aimée just didn‘t draw me. I did have a good laugh at the ancient computer technology, though! ? 8mo

Today at work we found out that our library has been selected for a federal grant to convert us to the book store model. This means almost $1 million for our library. It means new furniture, new shelving, new computers, and updated technology. This also means validation for our small but mighty team, that all the work we‘ve put in the last few months has not gone unnoticed. #gous #librariesrock #randolphafblibrary

Cooling off and investigating this town‘s library. Fun to explore!

Amiable Are you in Willimantic, CT? I used to work there! 13mo
kspenmoll @Amiable Yes! I have enjoyed getting to know the area this summer. My son works at the Windham Textile & History Museum & does not drive I dropped drop him off & spent the day there- just once a week. So nice to have all that time to myself! He is at UConn so will get himself there now. Where did you work? 13mo
Amiable I used to work at Eastern, right down the street! 13mo

kspenmoll @Amiable Walked the campus recently- so green in summer! Right near where I went for coffee. 13mo
Amiable You went to Cafemantic, right? That's the best coffee shop there! 13mo
kspenmoll @Amiable I went to Cafemantic for a delicious lunch one day. The coffee shop I went to is Grounded Coffee co. This is only its second year so you may have left by then. The building they are in was once the home/office of first MD in Willimantic. Beautiful job; lovely courtyard, mural etc. I may have posted something back in July. Owners are friendly, committed, etc. 13mo
Amiable Oh, that's so good to hear! It's a cute town and has so much potential--so glad to see it growing with more businesses. 13mo
