My Dear Hamilton: A Novel of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton
My Dear Hamilton: A Novel of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton | Stephanie Dray, Laura Kamoie
From the New York Times bestselling authors of America's First Daughter comes the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton--a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. Haunting, moving, and beautifully written, Dray and Kamoie used thousands of letters and original sources to tell Eliza's story as it's never been told before--not just as the wronged wife at the center of a political sex scandal--but also as a founding mother who shaped an American legacy in her own right.A general's daughter...Coming of age on the perilous frontier of revolutionary New York, Elizabeth Schuyler champions the fight for independence. And when she meets Alexander Hamilton, Washington's penniless but passionate aide-de-camp, she's captivated by the young officer's charisma and brilliance. They fall in love, despite Hamilton's bastard birth and the uncertainties of war. A founding father's wife...But the union they create--in their marriage and the new nation--is far from perfect. From glittering inaugural balls to bloody street riots, the Hamiltons are at the center of it all--including the political treachery of America's first sex scandal, which forces Eliza to struggle through heartbreak and betrayal to find forgiveness. The last surviving light of the Revolution...When a duel destroys Eliza's hard-won peace, the grieving widow fights her husband's enemies to preserve Alexander's legacy. But long-buried secrets threaten everything Eliza believes about her marriage and her own legacy. Questioning her tireless devotion to the man and country that have broken her heart, she's left with one last battle--to understand the flawed man she married and imperfect union he could never have created without her...

Confession time⏳~ I shouldn't have...but I did. I couldn't pass up this deal, especially after I had enjoyed America's First Daughter by Stephanie Dray on audiobook 🎧 last year. I know I'll find understanding in this group. 🤣

Eliza Schuyler Hamilton was my kind of girl. She played a pivotal role in the founding of the U. S. She states,”I was SOMEONE before I met Alexander Hamilton.” This is well-researched & it could be argued that she earned founder status in her own right. Her chronicle is a Who‘s Who of the N.Y. frontier, the Revolution, and the first yrs. of the new republic. Thanks to the authors,Eliza commands the narrative & hers is a voice that should be heard.

This was a wonderful historical fiction written by two authors Stephanie Dray&,Laura Kamoie. It is told by Eliza Hamilton, starting from the beginning of the revolution her trials and tribulations not only with her husband but with the politics.Hamilton was a passionate believer in the foundation of this country and she stood by him in life and after his death. Wonderful descriptions, fact and fiction interwoven, seamless story telling.

This was good book. I liked that Eliza was telling the story. The beginning of the book really drew me in. Eliza and Hamilton meeting, marrying and starting a family fascinated me. But there were a lot of dry spots in the middle, talking nothing but politics. The end, of course got interesting again. I would not reread this one but glad I read it.

It has been a rough few days here. Christmas morning the little one woke up in the middle of the night with a fever and it has been nonstop crying since! I woke up sick yesterday and my husband woke up sick today. 😭 Little guys birthday is in 2 days so I am really hoping he is better by then, especially since we have a surprise trip this weekend. Cozying up next to him in bed tonight to start this.

Overall well done. A few dry spots. A few very memorable scenes. Overall a very interesting portrayal of a very interesting woman in her own right (that aside from being Alexander Hamilton‘s wife.)

Suzze I bought this when it first came out because I loved her first one and it still sits on my iPad unread. Darned ebooks don‘t jump out at you like real books do. 13mo

This was a delightfully good book! I am always in awe of all that Hamilton accomplished in his short life, but I loved reading about Eliza's part in that history even more. I cannot recommend this book enough.

When one of my book clubs chose My Dear Hamilton as our August read, I . . . wasn't sure. What else could possibly be added to what I already have read or experienced? Fortunately, this novel was, while not an epiphany, certainly compelling. Experiencing these events from Eliza's perspectives lends a completely different slant on the founding of our nation and Hamilton's feuds and affairs. Overall, a strong addition to the Hamilton canon.

If I could give half stars, I would have given, “My Dear Hamilton...” 4.5 stars. I wish I had paid more attention in history class! I kept asking myself, “I wonder if that‘s true?” I had to stop and google something to validate what I had just read. I didn‘t realize some of our forefathers were so devise. What a remarkable woman Betsy/Eliza Schuyler Hamilton was who remained semper fidelis through out her long life.

"He was not a perfect man. But he was a great one. It is only plain justice that his wife should remember him better. And his country too."
This book was phenomenal. Heartbreaking in exactly how hard life was at the beginning of America. Breathtaking in the honor and valor that were shown by the women during such a time of upheaval. A personal story of Eliza Hamilton but also a story that transcends time and related to my current day experiences.

Boooooks I just got this I‘d never heard of it before but I‘m really excited to get to it now! 2y
