Definitely young adult—it kept the mystery going but not enough for me to read the second book
Day 2: #Sisters
Such an easy one for me since I‘m currently rereading/finishing this series. Scarlett and Tella - sisters - are each the other‘s person. In truth, the sisterly bond between them is a bit too heavy-handed for me. 🤷🏻♀️
This was a total #blameitonlitsy read. I never would have read it if I didn't see a lot of people talking about it. Litsy didn't let me down. I really enjoyed this one and when I got into it the pages just flew by. Can't wait to see how the journey continues!
I liked the start but it went downhill from there.I just had to finish it as I never leave a book unfinished but won't continue the series.I love fantasies but this flow is out of any possible logic. It made no sense to me.The clues made no sense. Just wondering around and guessing most of the time.
Oh... I just hate all characters. None of them were intriguing enough to keep me reading, and they were all annoying to no end.
Gonzo wanted to help with my first #24in48 Readathon SFF Challenge 😺 Ahhh, Caraval, my first ever Fantasy book. Never thought I would love fantasy but because of the Caraval series, I dove into the genre and it is my all time favorite book series (Legendary is my favorite so far, just don‘t have the book)!🎩 Hoping ACOTAR will be right up there with high expectations 😁 (Hopefully I‘ll get to read the first two books during the Readathon!) ✨
Caraval, for me, fell flat. While I enjoyed Stephanie Garber's descriptions of not only the luscious, mysterious Caraval but also the surrounding world, the main character seemed 2 dimensional and predictable, and wasn't particularly interesting. The ending left me confused and disappointed, because, afterall, all that happens in it is only a game. Definitely recommend the other 2 books though! Much more interesting.
Magic. Wonder. Games. YES! I figured this was going to be a typical plot. Girl goes to magic carnival with sister, sister disappears, turns out evil person runs said carnival and finally good guys win. I‘m happy to say that this is NOT how things go AT ALL. The adventure this book will take you on will consume you. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you reading and make you neglect everything you should be doing.
Hey Friends! After much thought and realizing how much I wanted to get back into writing, I took the plunge and started a blog. Somewhere where I can get all my thoughts out. If you are interested in seeing what I have to say, please follow! I‘d love to check your blogs out too!
Look forward to interacting more with everyone!
Finished this one at the gym today. Can‘t wait to read the next one! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I've recently become obsessed with my instant pot I got for mothersday. Here is a photo of a hamburger pie I made in it.
Anyway, the first time I read caraval I was expecting a circus because it came in an owl crate that was circus themed. At the time I had not read The Night Circus, so the only one I could think of was the circus in the chemical garden series. Which made me not like this book. This time, I can immerse myself better.
Stayed up late to finish this book which well and truly hooked me. I‘d seen negative reviews so went in with low expectations and enjoyed it. I think the comparisons to Night Circus haven‘t helped - to me this is a plot driven YA fantasy with a very imaginative setting, but lots of romance tropes and the characters (in my opinion) are fairly blank canvases. To me that‘s perfect for an engaging adventure and it helped me out of a slump for sure⬇️
Besides Gorgeous edition of books, bookish mugs & bookmarks, I‘m totally #ObsessedWith booksleeves! Here are some of my favourites and I love to use them when I take my books out with me everyday so I can keep them safe & dry & wrinkle free! 😆 It‘s a must have for any #BooksLover
Anyone else use booksleeves? Or what do you collect?

Have you read Caraval? Opulent, delicious, un-put-downable? To be fair, some of the characters could have been more deeply fleshed out, and perhaps that happens in the next book. I simply devoured this one. If you like stylized YA Fantasy with a good helping of magical romance (f/m), then this is not a book to be missed. 😘🌹
A mixture of Night Circus, The Game starring Michael Douglas, and the Lotus Hotel from Percy Jackson, #Caraval is a story full of fun, magic, mystique, and intrigue. But there's a darkness there too, and a partial murder mystery. I know I'm late to the game with this series, but better late than never, right? I enjoyed this book much more than I had expected to and I'm going to buy the rest of the series as soon as I finish writing this review.
I can't help but feel really disappointed with Caraval - the premise sounded amazing, but everything fell flat for me. Nothing really felt fantastical or magical, and "the game" didn't make much sense. The characters were one-dimensional and not very interesting. I do wish I could see what everyone else does because I had high hopes and wanted to love it. I was tempted to read the second book for the hell of it, but think I'll give it a pass.
This was pretty good, though it made me think of the Night Circus, which to me is more well written. I found the main character frustrating and had to keep reminding myself that she was a kid who had been raised in an abuse-filled house, largely in solitude, which is why she seemed so naive. But the environment of the book was interesting, and the game aspect was also interesting. I don't know that I feel compelled to continue the series.
How was everyone‘s weekend? Our local beer fest was on so I spent the past couple of days drinking far too much ale! I‘m looking forward to a relaxed Sunday - hoping to smash through Caraval and drink lotsa coffee 😈☕️📚
#52 of my year & I‘m finally adventuring into this world. So far this year I have checked off several series that have been on my TBR for a long time and I‘m so proud!
Just finished the Caraval series, and I‘m taking suggestions on new #YAfantasy series. Some of my past favs are The Winner‘s Curse series, The Lunar Chronicles, and Shades of Magic series. I would also like for the series to be complete already. I hate having to wait for the final book to come out. What do you suggest, Litsy? #YA #Fantasy #summerreading
I tried I really did but I just could not stand Scarlet and it takes a lot for me to DNF a book. I might try reading the book to see if I like it but not yet.
So I started the Audiobook of Caraval today and so far it‘s okay but I am starting to get annoyed with Scarlet. I am finding her to be very whiny and I don‘t know if I am going to continue. Did anyone find the book version better? I am on Chapter 11 of the Audiobook.
Ok! I need opinions. The above mentioned title just didn't quite do it for me but I find myself being drawn to the 2nd and 3rd book....possibly just cause the covers are so pretty. Is it worth it? Do they get better???
The Fuzz, as always, is for attention.
Yet another book my aunt got me. This one I didn‘t like as much as some of the others. The main character was HIGHLY annoying throughout the novel, there was an insta-love, there wasn‘t really a setting, and Garber brushed off the magic rules by saying the characters didn‘t know the rules, so oh well! It felt like it was trying to be the YA Night Circus, and it just fell really short. 2/5
