I‘ve gushed about this before, I absolutely loved the film and the tagged book is the novel based on the film. A coming-of-age story about gender, class, and dancing. And how expressing yourself through dance can set you free. Billy's father has signed him up for boxing classes, but Billy likes dancing and eventually starts taking ballet lessons in secret, the only boy in the class.

I loved loved the film, one of my favourite films of all time but have not read the book. The story of a coal miner's son from northern England, whose life is changed when he took up ballet instead of kickboxing and subsequently became a professional ballet dancer. Full of heartwarming and tender moments, and humour, it's a novelisation of the film. The story was also adapted for the West End stage.

This book is the novelisation of the film, about an 11-year old boy who wants to be a ballet dancer but is opposed by his father (who equates male ballet dancers with homosexuality). Billy is not exactly a #tinydancer but he dances as an expression of yearning. I have not read the book, but I love, love, love the film - full of charm, humour and heart. I do recommend the film!
