The stress of trying to come up with a successful booth for the school fair gives Emma and her friends a great idea: relaxation.

Thanks for the tag @Pageturner1

1 Water, any type, drink it, bathe in it, listen to the roar of the sea or a babbling brook or cry salty tears.
2 Music
3 Lastly art or the poets, there‘s usually something there to inspire hope or joy.

@dabbe

dabbe Thanks for sharing! Love all of 'em! I'll be emailing you today re: Sherlock, too! 🧡🖤💜 5mo
TieDyeDude Yes! I listen to music so much as background or to distract from other noises, I forget sometimes how relaxing it is to listen to music just for the sake of the music. 5mo

1. Rummikub (online)
2. Listening to music
3. Watching TV…lately The Great British Bake-Off

@dabbe #TLT

Amiable I LOVE the Great British Baking Show -- and I don't even like to bake. There's just something so addictive about it. 5mo
dabbe I'll have to check out Rummikub. My husband and I loved to play gin rummy together. Thanks for sharing! 🧡🖤💜 5mo
AmyG @Amiable It‘s just very soothing. I don‘t wven know half of what they bake! And I love Noel. 5mo
Amiable @AmyG I just love listening to the British accents and slang. I giggle every time Paul or Prue tells a baker they have a soggy bottom. 😄 5mo

@Andrew65 I need to do massive catch up plus make curriculum for new tutoring kiddos 😂😝 gogogo

Andrew-hope you all are feeling back to right!

Andrew65 Started my phased return this week, 3 hours a day, but still extremely exhausted. 4 more days to get through then have a week off school. 3y
Andrew65 I‘m just putting in place 15 week tuition programmes for 150 of our children. (edited) 3y
Andrew65 Good luck with the Readathon. 😊👍 (edited) 3y

TheBookHippie @Andrew65 🤞🏻you get rest ! We have had testing … math is 😫 so is writing and spelling. They want reading that will support helping the loss of skills over covid 😝 3y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie clear for our younger children pandemic has had a big negative affect on phonics development and reading (age 4 - 8) but for the older children a more negative effect on their maths. And for all the children a big negative impact on writing. (edited) 3y
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 Same here… 3y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie Amazing the similarities! 3y
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 Truly. We also see trauma and more food insecurity. It is a worldwide problem. We shall see what is done to help. 3y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie Definitely agree with all of that. Many schools reporting major behaviour issues but we are not seeing that with our children, but the behaviour in our school is always excellent. Part of our school‘s DNA. Not that it was like that when I took over 15 years ago, worst behaviour I had ever seen at the time. 3y

Chrissyreadit 1. It‘s ok to let our bodies be unfocused while we adjust. I‘ve posted on Litsy about lack of reading and this same feeling is in many. I‘ve also used the 10% happier site with free Covid resources to support mindfulness and balance- a meditation APP that is currently free and very helpful- I give it a 5/5 even if it‘s just a brief support. My work days are overwhelming too, but I‘m trying to just be kind to myself and am binge watching tv . 4y
alisiakae I‘m slammed right now too. Plus my daughter‘s remote learning often makes it very hard to work during normal hours. I don‘t know if I really have any advice, just support and commiseration! 💕 4y
Chrissyreadit 2. Do what helps you feel calm in the moment, a drink of coffee, tea, water, wine, beer etc. sit and enjoy the moment. Consider a craft or activity too. When I feel particularly unsettled I‘m playing solitaire and word Crossy on phone for example. ❤️💕❤️ 4y
DogEaredBooks Personally feeling the same way. I think the best advice I found was just understanding how stress can affect your mental state (loss of focus; short sighted; feeling flaky, etc). Once I read more into it I felt better and I was able to be more understanding with myself which really helped me. Also breathing techniques are super helpful when I get too anxious. 4y

Just gonna leave this here 😉

Stacy_31 Good to know! 5y
AsYouWish I totally agree with this!! I work with a student with behavior issues & was told he would never like reading & hated books. One day we were both frustrated & I told him I was going to read for a few minutes to feel better. He watched me for about 30 seconds & then asked if he could read too? I said of course & ever since it is his go to “break” option!!! It helps both of us to calm down & he knows when I grab my book that I need a minute, lol! 5y
Stacy_31 @AsYouWish That‘s awesome!!! 5y

monogamist_reader That's good to know ! 5y
Clwojick @AsYouWish amazing! I hated reading as a young child, but once I hit 13-14 I started to get more into it. In the many years since I‘ve used it as a calming outlet more times than I can count. 5y
JaneyWaneyB That is so true! I feel so much calmer after a chapter or two. I'm going to stick that on my office door to see if I can get away with reading the day away at work 😉 5y
Anna4031 *Excuses herself to read for 739,364 minutes straight* 5y
jewright I didn‘t read much when my kids were little. I realized at one point I had to start reading again to stay sane. 5y
