What I knew going in: Two kids become friends in World of Warcraft and go on a road trip.

What it was really about: Dylan is a poor gay kid who has recently gone into spontaneous remission from terminal brain cancer. Arden is a trans girl who lives with a disappointed father.

This book exploded my brain! It was so real, and poetic, and painful, and beautiful, and everything about finding yourself and love. ❤❤❤❤❤

Different than anything I've ever read before. A story of love and healing between two people who had previously only met online. It was beautiful and touching and raw. LGBTQ literature.

This scene brought happy tears to my eyes.

I loved the author annotations. I think I'll have to regularly subscribe to #YAQuarterly. I loved how well put together the box was by the author.

Does anyone else have a book light? I bought one on a whim and I'm loving the heck out of it. Too many times have I fallen asleep with the lights on while reading.

I have a trans parent and I have been trying to read books with trans characters because it makes her happy and gives us something to talk about. This was funny, sweet, and really covered sexual / gender identity and self-discovery. Read in a few hours. I recommend 👌🏽

This book was an adorable, emotional roller coaster. I loved every minute of it.

Totally by accident (because of the order my digital holds came in from the library) this was my third ya with a trans protagonist this week. And my second book where there is a road trip with one of the said trans characters. It's interesting to see how authors take such a similar concept and use it to send a different message. This one had sweet moments and hard moments. It dealt with some difficult ideas well.

The mail carrier delivered me so much book mail! The #YAQuarterly box I had forgotten I'd ordered arrived, so it's like a surprise present past me gave to myself. I love Nimona so am happy to have a hard copy. And the other two look gooood. And it has some word game puzzle that I am totally here for!
