Easy, casual read. Writing very conversational, not full of figurative language. Not a must-read, as the plot is kind of platonic and not very driving, but a average story of a man and his encounters with women after he loses his wife. Full review at:

unrelated to this book, but I cannot sleep. really needing support, even from some bibliophiles I've never met ❤️ excuse the tired and frustrated handwriting.

Trav From what I can gather from the picture it sounds like you're having a hard time with someone -- or possibly a break up? Just be kind to yourself. Remember that you are loveable and that there are people who love you for who you are. Don't ever let one person define your worth. Sending hugs! 8y
BooksTeasAndBookishThings Sometimes, you have to love yourself before you can truly be loved by another. Because when you love yourself, you know your worth as a human being. You need to know that you ARE worthy. You are amazing. You are intelligent. You are funny. You are kind. You are awesome. Don't doubt it. Ever. You are worth everything and you deserve to be with someone who exceeds your standards, not someone who sees you as less than you are. You are BEAUTIFUL. ❤️ 8y
Carol ⬆️what they said. Long term, try to do some self-care to heal and find hope and strength for the future. Short term, do something that brings you joy. Meditation can help some people clear their minds enough for sleep to follow. Remembering some happier times, ideally not involving this person, could also help get you to sleep in the short term. I'm pulling for you. Be well. This sucks. 😔 8y

LeahBergen I'm feeling for you and sending lots of positive and happy vibes your way. ❤️❤️❤️ 8y
ramyasbookshelf @voicesinwords I went through something similar last year.. What really helped me was doing the little things - I focused 100% on me and my immediate surroundings - healthy eating, working out, decluttering, planning and executing daily tasks, focusing on a few friendships etc etc.. It really helped to get the 'unlovable' feeling out of me. I feel your pain. Big hugs. You'll get through this. 8y
[DELETED] 2232195534 Seems like you've got some good advice and positive energy coming toward you from the previous commenters. I'll add my voice to theirs and send hugs your way too. In looking back through your recent posts I see some great things. You had a good time with the recent readathon and well done. And I see a sweet furry friend. Pets give unconditional love. Take care and good for you for reaching out. Hope today is a better day. ❤️ 8y
LauraBeth Hugs to you @voicesinwords. I agree with @Trav - one person doesn't get to define who you are. Your value and worth supersedes this moment in time. ❤️ 8y
Bibliogeekery Heartbreak is the worst. You will feel different than this. Sending care 💕 8y
LauraBrook I agree with everyone else here. You are not what one person says or thinks you are. You are fantastic and intelligent and loving and happen to be going through an extraordinarily shitty patch of life. You will get through this and be a better and stronger person - though it may take awhile to feel like it, but you'll get there. I'm the meantime, talk to yourself like you're taking to your best friend - we are always meaner to ourselves. 8y
LauraBrook Love, light, and healing to you! ❤️ 8y
AmyG I listened to this on audiobook and it still is he best book I have ever listened to. Why? Because it was read by Eli Wallach. If you want to read this...don't. LISTEN to it. 8y
AmyG I wish you well. Not all relationships are truly worth it. Some teach us more than others. If you are not treated the way you deserve to be...is this the right relationship for you? Heartbreak is brutal, but after the suffering may you find peace and love for yourself. And in time...may someone find you...who appreciates you for all you are. In the meantime, keep reading. That has always gotten me through the ups and downs of life. 8y
Leanney There is always a reason things don't work out. Not trying to be cliche with the "everything happens for a reason" stuff, but you have to figure that this relationship ended because it isn't the right one. When you find the right one, it sticks. No matter what. List all the great things about yourself. Don't give up until someone recognizes them all :) 8y

Took me a little while to read, but so intriguing. I love reading books set in realistic but unusual societies, and this definitely fulfilled that. It challenges certain principles of society, and our views on happiness and independence. Would recommend.

Good read, but glossed over some discoveries and concepts that I would've liked to read more about. The topic was more interesting than I expected it to be, 3.5/5. For a more comprehensive review or some quotes from the book, visit the link on my page.
