Honestly? There were a lot of things I loved and a of of things I found problematic. But when it comes down to it, JK Rowling is a goddess and Hogwarts is the home I've always dreamed of. To give anything less than five stars would be disloyal and dishonest.

This is not only the best collection of short stories I've ever read, but the best BOOK I've ever read.

Time's arrow is the loss of fidelity in compression. A sketch, not a photograph. A memory is a re-creation, precious because it is both more and less than the original.

Being the mirrors for each other's souls has a cost: once they part from each other, they have become indistinguishable. Before, they yearned for the other; as they part, they part from the self. The very quality that attracted them to each other is also, inevitably, destroyed in their union.

A beautiful series of stories about time and redemption. The manner in which each of the characters and stories were connected was simply incredible.

I didn't think it was possible for the conclusion of this series to be as beautiful as the first installment, but I was wrong. I was just as-if not more so-moved by this book as I was The Wrath and The Dawn. I laughed, sighed, got angry, and even cried a couple of times. Beautiful.

I'm not sure if it was the writing style, the characters, or the introduction, but I just CANNOT read any more.

40 pages in and considering abandoning. I hope it starts improving soon.

A brilliant retelling of Aladdin full of humor, lore, dynamic characters, and-of course-romance. Elements of the original are obvious in places, but overall this was a unique story, one I couldn't get enough of.

A haunting, blunt examination of mental illness and the manner in which society views it.

I was surprised by just how charmed I was by this book! The periodization was wonderful, and learning that it was inspired in part by actual events made the story even more believable. What ultimately sold me on this book were the characters, all of which were diverse and developed-especially Kash.

As someone who values singularity, this book was empowering. The rise of women who share my mindset presented in the book was not only heartening, but surprising given pop culture's portrayal of such topics. Definitely a must read.

The protagonist is a spoiled, Mary Sue type named Lily who takes every opportunity to point out aspects of her "perfect" life. Worse is the lack of free will she is given before being forced to serve an Egyptian pharaoh lost in time. It reminded me too much of our society's rape culture. Unsettling.

I've read many books about WWII, but they pale in comparison to this. The characters are real and-like all of us-flawed. Not simply a novel about war & love, but an elegy to the lost and the choices made by those left behind. It questions what it means to be brave while showing its okay not to be.

I've never read a book like this-ever. It was clever, exciting, and above all, it was beautifully written and original. A must read for all book lovers.

Hilarious and quirky, it seemed-to me at least-vaguely reminiscent of the weird style Vonnegut employed for all of his works.

One of the best fantasy novels I've ever read! It's also one of the few books I've read in which EVERY protagonist is compelling and well developed. I'll be eagerly awaiting the sequel.

A must read not only for feminists, but anyone who hopes to gain insight about topics such as parenthood, feminism, the LGBTQ+ community, politics, and simply learning to find yourself and live a life of happiness in a society which seems to constantly strive to prevent it.

A beautiful, haunting book about the worst maritime disaster in history, a disaster that somehow nearly no one is familiar with, as it was nearly erased from history. The prose is almost lyrical, and the shifting perspectives give life to those lost in the sinking.

A great prequel to The Wrath and the Dawn! Loved the insight it gave into Despina's past, and the glimpse we got of Ava. It was written with the same beautiful style; though short, it was simply wonderful.

Though the beginning contained too many abrupt shifts in POV, the book quickly improved and I found myself anxiously anticipating the characters' fates-even though I had already read the biblical story which inspired this novel. Well researched and a great portrayal of a strong-willed female lead.

The idea of an origin story for history's most notorious pirate is great, but up until the end the story focused more on romance rather than how Blackbeard came to be. A quick read though, & the characters were likable. I'm hopeful that the sequel will focus more on action & character development.

Rereading this collection and stumbled across a quote I overlooked the first time around, something that made me pause and think. "And of all the rooms in my childhood, God was the largest, and most empty."

This book is insane. It starts with the story of a man who only walks backwards, and end with the story of a senator with a pet chimpanzee. Though incredibly different, they have one thing in common: they are each afflicted by grief, and the novel eloquently and humorously explores this. Wonderful
