Might squeeze in a couple of pages of my new book before I fall asleep ... 😴

Kloves2read I love books on time travel. How ia this book so far? 2w
Debdeb @Kloves2read I would highly recommend it!! Lots of stories going on, it‘s starts in the 1960s so time travel is a career and partial way of life as the book continues 😊 2w

Mehso-so

This was my ‘light-relief‘ book while reading something heavier ... it was a nice read, some irritations but I think that‘s down to my attitude towards love, on the plus side I didn‘t feel like throwing it across the room so the love side of it isn‘t in your face. An easy read for a busy mind 😊

I always forget about the #readathon and the 24 hours of reading over the weekend until about mid day Saturday so have set myself a reminder for next Friday 😀😀

I loved this! Not heard of flash stories before and despite their shortness definitely provoked a different perspective and view on the originals. A modern twist as well as some dark outcomes. Will be adding Marie Brennan to be ‘to be read‘ pile to experience more of her work. If you only have a short time to read and would like break from the everyday for a quick respite, I would recommend this fabulous collection!

A question ... what is the ‘Book Adds‘ about? I thought it was if I was adding a new book but I haven‘t done that and it tells me I have 2 #confusedonsaturday

jenniferw88 It's the number of times people have added to their stacks because of your posts! 1mo

Bailedbailed

Although I bailed, it was mainly due to the subject not being of much interest to me ... I did enjoy what I read and found it really interesting (contradicting myself here) but it was too much and in-depth for me ... if I were an educator then this would‘ve been a great book to expand my views and arguments around standardised testing in schools, as it is it has certainly opened my eyes about the subject ... will consider rereading in future

Just seen this on Facebook ... it‘s a long shot but does anyone know the book this is referring to? I‘d love to read it as it‘s a concept I‘ve thought of a couple of times ... thank you Littens!

SW-T Such an interesting concept! Others often see us very differently than we see ourselves. 🤔 2mo

I don‘t normally read short story collections but I really enjoyed these! Just short snippets of someone‘s life, a snap shot of a situation but brilliantly written and very engaging!

Well that took a while! Definitely glad I persevered though, so much description and detail ... have to admit, I skipped the appendixes but I do plan to go back to them later. Such a huge imagination to create such a full and gorgeous world!

You are all officially a bad influence ... I only popped into the bookshop to buy a book for my mum and came out with 2 for mum & 4 for me as I kept spotting books that people had reviewed positively on Litsy ... my library is going to grow but my bank balance diminish I feel due to this community - which admittedly I am ok with😀

The Sign of Four | Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Pickpick

As the second Sherlock Holmes book I feel Conan Doyle is starting to find his feet now, am definitely looking forward to the next one! Loved how the story is all neatly pulled together at the end when we find out the back story and various parts fall into place but still having the smaller investigatory elements picked out along the way 😊

A Study in Scarlet | Arthur Conan Doyle
Mehso-so

Well that was so much quicker to get through as an audio book! Sherlock Holmes has been on my tbr list for ages so I‘m happy to have started. I got really confused at part 2 and had to google the plot as I thought maybe I‘d done something wrong when I downloaded the book and it had slipped into a different book ... all made a lot of sense in the end and I quite enjoyed the separation once I realised it was all the same story 😀

Debdeb @PurpleyPumpkin I do already, got loads more books to read and it‘s very friendly 😊 3mo
Debdeb @readinginthedark thanks! Getting there slowly! Just glad it‘s 3 books in one or I‘ll be down on my target for the year! 3mo
readinginthedark I found The Hobbit slow-going the first time but was able to enjoy my reread on audio a bit more. I think his work needs savoring to an extent. Some authors just have so much packed into a small space! 3mo
Debdeb @readinginthedark I flew through the Hobbit a couple years ago but Lord of the Rings I‘ve restarted a few times and then couldn‘t go near it a few years as I‘d built up a ‘fear‘ (not quite the right word but it‘s early & I can‘t think of another 🙄) of the section I kept getting stuck at. He definitely packs a lot in, it feels like slow going but I‘ve started looking at page numbers and I‘m reading quicker than I thought, it‘s an odd sensation 😂 3mo
readinginthedark I can understand that! There are actually a lot of books I just set aside for several months. 😆 It's a problem, I guess. 3mo
