#MarchIntoReading Day 31 - Best of March

I had a pretty stellar reading month in March - 13 books read! This also wraps up my #WinterOfWomen17 project - reading only books written by women from December 21-March 31. Of those, these three were my favorites.

RealLifeReading What an awesome reading project!! Are you doing something similar for spring? 7y
Suzze Great project! Bravo! 7y
BooksForYears @RealLifeReading I'm actually going to focus on the #LitsyAtoZ and #ReadHarder reading challenges. 7y

#MarchIntoReading Day 30 - Starts with U/V/W

For the penultimate Day of Women's History Month, here are three fascinating and intriguing books by and about women:
•UNACCUSTOMED EARTH by Jhumpa Lahiri
•A VERY GREAT PROFESSION: THE WOMAN'S NOVEL 1914-1939
•WOMEN OF WINE: THE RISE OF WOMEN IN THE GLOBAL WINE INDUSTRY

#FunFridayPhoto - Luckily, the book I'm currently reading is sitting right beside me. I guess the aliens will get to watch me read about a young woman who sleeps her way around WW2 London. 🙄👾

#MarchIntoReading Day 3 - Recent Non-Fiction Read

Zora had a great interest in African American storytelling & folklore traditions that were prominent in the American South. At a time when black lives weren't given much regard at all, she spent 1928-1932 visiting New Orleans and her hometown area in FL. She recorded the stories they told, and collected them into this book - 100 in total.

Gezemice Interesting! I loved reading about her in the past year. She had a view of African American writing so much more uplifting than her contemporaries - celebrating the culture, instead of writing about being downtrodden. I respect that. 7y

#MarchIntoReading Day 1 - March #TBR

After failing spectacularly at keeping with February's TBR, I'm giving it another go in March.

valeriegeary Memoirs of a polar bear is such a strange one, but so beautiful too. 7y

It doesn't look like much, but this ottoman is just right for me to sit for a few hours of reading. Right now, I'm reading a digital library loan of White Teeth by Zadie Smith.

tricours No back support...? 7y
BooksForYears @tricours Nope. I often sit in lotus position, and I do a pretty good job of keeping it straight. 7y
tricours 😳 That would kill my back! 7y
hlgreenfield Damn no back support? My best friend also likes to sit for hours with no back support, but my back just can't take it for more than a few minutes! 7y

#FeistyFeb Day 1 - #FebruaryTBR

This month I'm setting a challenge for myself. I'm already (at least until March 21) only reading books written by women for my #WinterOfWomen17 project.

In celebration of February being Black History Month, I'm taking things a step further. I'm challenging myself to read only books written by Black women this month. Here are some books that I hope to read!

Betty Setting and accomplishing challenges are fun! 7y
Bkwurm I love your goal--both of them! I highly recommend Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi, I am about 3/4 through and it's sad, hopeful, makes me think about things I never considered before. Amazingly written! 7y
Beachesnbooks Great goal! I loved Americanah; White Teeth and The Mothers are two I'd really like to get to soon. 7y

#ReadJanuary Day 31 - Best of January

I consumed a surprising 15 books during January. My favorites were the Whipple, M Train, and the non-fiction book Unmentionable, about day-to-day life for Victorian women, which was an ebook loan from my library. I kept with my #WinterOfWomen17 goal, except for the book about hygge. I'm looking forward to February's reading!
