Just started this audiobook based on @AnneBogel and her #whatshouldireadnext podcast. It's really good so far!

Pickpick

I resisted this story because I have a teen daughter. It‘s very well written, and a fast, intriguing read. Suicide trigger but the perspective is different because the narrator is a group of young boys infatuated with the Lisbon girls. I thank @annebogel and the #whatshouldireadnext podcast for the recommendation. Without hearing how good it was I never would have read this. I always liked the idea of liking poetry but I really struggle through written poetry, which is why I shied away from this book for so long. When I realized that my library had the audiobook, I remembered hearing on #WhatShouldIReadNext that the audio version is fantastic so I jumped at the opportunity - and I 100% agree! I loved listening to this story. Jacqueline Woodson herself reads it and I think it adds a whole nother level to it. Worth it!

JulietteGF I'll pick Lost Children Archive, just because I really liked another book she wrote. 5mo
Niso @JulietteGF I think I‘ll start with that then. I heard a lot about it and it sounds like an interesting exploration of a timely issue 5mo

Montana 1948: A Novel | Larry Watson
Pickpick

Picked this up after hearing an episode of #whatshouldireadnext it was a favorite pick and this novella packs a powerful punch. It also won 1993 Milkweed National Prize for fiction. The story is as David Huddle states an appreciation of the moral complexity of our history, a refined sense of our weakness and our strengths, a profoundly improved understanding of the American character.

After a fun weekend of deadly time loops, I don't know what to do with myself.

Bookzombie How was the movie? 9mo
MaleficentBookDragon @Bookzombie as delightful as the first one. Ridiculous. Funny (at least I thought so). We had fun. If you liked the first one you'll like this one. 9mo
Bookzombie @MaleficentBookDragon That‘s good! I did like the first one. 🙂 9mo

Long story short, I finally subscribed to her podcast, and it‘s delightful! Her voice is soothing but not sleep inducing, and her suggestions are insightful.

I have to run errands this weekend and can‘t formally participate in #24B4Monday but I‘ll definitely squeeze in some reading whenever I can. I have so many books to read right now! Plus I need to be a good #wife and take Mr. S our for his birthday dinner.

Andrew65 Yes definitely need to be a good wife, he might be a bit grumpy at you not celebrating his birthday. 😂 Good luck with any reading you fit in. 👍 10mo

We Were the Lucky Ones | Georgia Hunter

Pickpick

This was just lovely. Hunter's story of researching her family's experience during WWII was fascinating . . . so I put the book on hold. I'm so glad I did! Hunter alternates the chapters' points of view, telling the stories of her grandfather, his siblings, and her great-grandparents beautifully. She never falls into easy sentimentality, but I was emotionally and intellectually engaged throughout. Just beautiful!
