Your favorite book beginning with A

Thanks for the tag @MrsMalaprop and @jenniferw88 🤍

It‘s hard to narrow it down to just one favorite book but in the end I decided that I can‘t ignore this classic which opened my eyes to a whole new world: that of the Russian novels.

Tagging my fellow #CampLitsy friends @Megabooks and @squirrelbrain

MrsMalaprop I adored this book. ❤️🙏 5d

I know, some don‘t like to read chunksters but if you do, there is a lot to be found here.I read it recently,Tolstoy had a great insight into the human condition, the consequences that can spiral out from an extramarital affair is a main feature of the novel with 8 parts & more than a dozen major characters,I kept a list! In this time of social change, Tolstoy captures universal feelings /motivations.

Amiable I‘ve been wanting to read this one for ages but haven‘t tackled it yet. 5d
Leftcoastzen @Amiable I started by reading 3 chapters a day ,but the chapters were really short .So I started reading 25 to 30 pages a day. I read multiple books at a time so I felt I needed a system.😄 5d
Amiable @Leftcoastzen I also read multiple books at a time, so I understand and appreciate the need for a system! 😀 5d

Like being in lit class with George Saunders when you can‘t be in lit class with George Saunders. I love fiction with every fibre of my existence, and this book reminded me of many of the reasons why I love it so much. Even better that Saunders unpacks short stories from my first real lit love, the Russians. Whether short stories, or Russian literature is your jam, if you are a reader this is a book for you. Exquisite.

The fascination Tolstoy has in describing all of his female characters with “beautiful faces and tiny mustaches” is kind of beyond me. Things no one tells you about War and Peace…. #tolstoy #warandpeace #classiclit #canonlit #catsandbooks #cats #catsoflitsy

RaeLovesToRead Awww kitty! 🥰🥰 I forgot about the mustaches! 😄🙈 1mo

Last read of January. Overall I liked this book. It was terribly long though. Thank goodness for audio books. I also found this hilarious summary on YouTube https://youtu.be/wE3mwsi3r_M #100EssentialNovels

I‘‘ve been reading Anna Karenina for the last couple weeks. I‘ve always been fascinated with this book so I‘m hoping I‘ll get through it by Friday. Then it‘s on to another #chunkybook with The Lincoln Highway. That‘s my #lastfirst goals.
