Mini book haul from a trip to Circle City Books in Pittsboro.

Graywacke Pretty covers 2y
Lcsmcat @Graywacke I know you shouldn‘t judge a book by its cover, but I confess to being swayed. 😂 2y

#BookReport The jumping time line made History of Loneliness hard to follow but I‘ll be thinking about it for awhile. 4 🌟 Loved being back in Bardugo‘s Grishaverse 4🌟 TJAS was a good read, too 4🌟

A Land More Kind Than Home. Too many snakes, plus snakes and religion. No can do. The was my #Bookspin.

#WeeklyForecast. Keep up with buddy reads and finish my 3 in progress and then who knows.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I love the buddy read section! 😉 3y
Cinfhen I enjoyed Migrations and 3y
Cinfhen Mike Jolett read the audio and he even sang sometimes/ it enhanced the memoir for me 3y
TheAromaofBooks Sorry to hear your BookSpin didn't pan out... but I'm not sure I'm eager to read about snakes, either!! 3y

A friend recommended this to me for my #NorthCarolina read. This is beautifully written. I‘ve heard some complain it‘s too wordy but I think the author writes to illustrate the story. I could visualize so much. This is definitely tragic with a host of unsavory characters but still a great read. I‘ll be looking out for ore books by Wiley Cash.

This has to be the most bizarre and unique book I‘ve ever read. Written after the trial of a snake-handling preacher who tried to kill his wife, this is the perfect example of faith that borders on obsession. I won‘t soon forget this one.

britt_brooke This is in my TBR! Sounds crazy. 5y
BlueMonday42 @britt_brooke It really was. 5y

Some “Home” titles #Homesick #AMonthofSongs

OriginalCyn620 Were these good? I haven‘t read any of them. 📚 5y
MallenNC @OriginalCyn620 Wiley Cash is one of my favorites and I always like Jennifer Wiener. The other one I haven‘t read but the movie Lion is based on it. The movie was good. 5y

My first Wiley Cash. I‘m a sucker for snake-handling Pentecostal villains, what can I say.

It isn‘t every day that snake handling comes up as a topic, but when it does, I‘m interested. This is a firsthand look at the mysterious and mystical practice of handling poisonous snakes in religious worship.

Covington‘s firsthand account of living and worshipping among this unique breed is authentic, balanced and is the closest to what I think an accurate portrayal could be.
