This book was crazy. I will say the unnamed Orisha - that story got me in a choke hold. I will be adding the next book in the series, because I need to know what will happen next. I hope they make a paper back of book 2, this hard back was heavy. Lol Now the foundation has been laid in book one, we can get to all the crazy in book 2

This book is not for the faint of heart! I was clutching my invisible pearls in some moments. I will say be prepared for crazy family dynamics, war, and heartbreak.

This book was a slow start. To build a strong foundation led to being slow in the beginning(my theory since there are 3 books so far). This West African inspired fantasy series allows for strong character building, world development, and even tone story pace. Main character Arrah (googled fan art) above.

This beautiful book was hard for me to read, I couldn't do it aloud. First they build a trust bond only to go to war and get separated. Then the battle. If you have a child that's fascinated by war, it's a good book, complete with bibliography and geography exploration opportunities. Not recommended for horse lovers triggered by the truth of what happens in a cavalry. I'm allergic to horses, but I love animals. 😢 😭 over here

This is an incredible HF, Christopher award-winning book set in WWII, following the legend of King Christian X of Denmark as he figures out how to best lead his people with the troubling discoveries of living in this war. This book brought me to tears and even though there is no proof of this even actually occurring King Christian was known to stand with the Jewish citizens of Denmark throughout WWII.

Mmurphy This would be a deep LC for students to do with one another as they are able to discuss and understand further what the significance of this book is. We would be using multiple tools for construction and composition of this information by learning the information collected by the different members in the LC (5.2)UDL.

Mmurphy For our EL‘s, I would use information gap activities, so they are able to retrieve information from one another based on their job in the LC.

A great resource is a lesson plan provided by the Holocaust teacher resources website: http://www.holocaust-trc.org/the-yellow-star/

Ericaj This book looks interesting. Books base on World War 2 interests me. The website you provide shows ways to integrate into different subjects. It is important to integrate literature into different subjects. I will add this to my book list. 3y
DrSpalding Carmon is a New York Times best-selling author! She visited our university several years ago at the UCF- book festival! She is amazing! Your resource is excellent and this book could certainly be used during social studies instruction in fifth grade. 3y

A story based on true events. It‘s about a loyal Akita pup who walks with his owner to the train station every morning. When the owner boards the train the dog runs home and then returns to the train station a few minutes before his owner is due back. They have a routine and they stick to it...until that routine is broken.

A quick and short story that made me tear up. I have watched the movie before, but I had never read the book.

4/5 This is a great story built around the actuality of a world without bees, such a devastating thought and a great way to reach kids about climate change. It touches on important themes for children like perseverance, family and love. Peony's spirit was so courageous! (Reccomended for ages 8-13)

This (not so) little guy started 7th grade from home today! I can‘t believe he‘s getting so big! (He‘s also 5‘6” and reminds me that he‘s 3 inches taller than me as often as he can!) I hope this year can go as smooth as possible and that I can help as much as possible ( he has algebra this year and I haven‘t done maths in about 2.5 million years 😱) good luck to all the teachers and home schooling parents this year!! And to the kiddos!!

alisiakae I have a 7th grader remote learning too! This is her 2nd week. 4y
