Do you love Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally? If so, you will love this book. Told mostly in dialogue, the two actors describe how they met and how they have made their relationship work. They are pretty much the most adorable couple on the planet. This book isn‘t literary genius but it left me with a smile on my face. I laughed many times and came to love them even more. Comes out October of this year.

JenP @britt_brooke I think I have your address so will send it on to you today or tomorrow depending on when I get to the post office. BTW there was one page ripped out (I‘m assuming the publishers did this before handing them out) so one chapter has a final page removed 😥 (edited) 1y
Cinfhen Woohoo🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷you‘re killing it 1y
britt_brooke @JenP Thank you SO much!! 🤗 1y
BarbaraTheBibliophage That‘s a LOT of flowers on the cover. Good pick!! 1y

Every single one of us needs to read this. And by “us” I mean both women and men.

The author‘s childhood was crazy. But more than that, this story makes women‘s pain a real thing. It‘s about how getting pain treated is not simple. The story is universal, therefore a little depressing, but mostly inspiring. Norman‘s writing is excellent!

Libby1 When I first looked at the author‘s name I thought it said Abby Normal! 2y
Alfoster @Libby1 You must have seen the film version of Frankenstein with Gene Wilder!😂😂😂 2y

Libby1 @Alfoster - I love it! 😂 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Libby1 @Alfoster She actually talks about that common mistake in her book! 🤣 2y
tammysue I‘ve got this on library hold. Excited to read it 😊 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @whatshesreadingnow Hope your hold comes in soon! 2y
riversong153 I loved this!! It was amazing. 2y
Lizpixie After suffering from severe endometriosis since I was 13, I can tell you that women‘s pain is dismissed far far too easily. A gynaecologist told my mother when I was 16 I needed a shrink because I just wanted attention. She never believed my pain again, even when I was throwing up and clawing at the wall to try and get away from the pain. #myuterusistryingtokillme 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Lizpixie Oh my friend, that‘s so difficult to live with. You‘d find plenty to relate to in this book. 💕 2y
mrozzz And I need to finally get to this one! Uterus is a Feature has more of a business focus than a personal/medical one. 2y
DarcysMom @Lizpixie I am *so* sorry no one believed you. Every story I hear reaffirms how lucky I was that my primary doc and gynecologist believed me when I said something was wrong. 2y

As you guys might have noticed, I wasn‘t a fan of this book. Aside from the awful victim blaming and misogyny which filled too many pages, it just didn‘t bring anything new to the table for #youngadult fantasy. The premise was amazing, I loved The Wood as a villain, but everything else was just typical tropes down to the unnecessary #lovestory and the “plain” young girl who finds out she is special. Disappointing..

Kalalalatja I‘m using this dor #Flowersoncover for #Booked2018 and for the #ERMadLibs challenge 2y
laurenbescoby I'm glad I'm not the only one. I bailed at about 30%. I was bored and also felt the characters were very 2D and if a love story came out of the abuse I would be upset so I didn't continue. Everyone else seems to love it! 2y
Sophoclessweetheart I‘ve never even read this one. Everyone usually seems to love it but it sounded so much like every other fantasy for me to even give it a try x 2y

TrishB That‘s staying on the tbr for a while longer then! 2y
Cinfhen You‘re starting to sound like me 😜curious if my new pal and YA Fantasy friend liked this one...thoughts @Elisa 2y
GatheringBooks thank you for the honest and thoughtful review!! :) 2y
Chelsea.Poole This has been on my tbr for quite some time. Maybe it needs to just go away..?? 🤔 Thanks for the review 2y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks This is still sitting on my shelf.... 2y
Elisa Haha @Cinfhen 😂💜 I haven‘t read this yet! Like @Chelsea.Poole I‘ve had this on my reading list for a while but haven‘t felt the unstoppable need to get my bookworm paws on it, so I don‘t have anything to contribute I‘m afraid 😅 2y
Redwritinghood I wasn‘t a fan of this one either. I finished it, but it just wasn‘t that good. 2y
Cinfhen Seems like a hate it/love it read @elisa 2y
Elisa @Cinfhen yeah, that‘s the impression I‘ve gotten as well from online reviews. 2y
readordierachel I didn't like it either. It was boring to boot. 2y
Kalalalatja @miralunasbooknook well, then you should feel completely satisfied with your bail, because, if course, there was the ridiculous romance between the brooding (and annoying) mentor and the awkward girl 🙄🙄 2y
Kalalalatja @Wanderingwithwords I have a thing for Russian fairy tale inspired books, and this sorta fit that theme, but it fell completely flat for me... 2y
Kalalalatja @TrishB @Chelsea.Poole @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I‘m not saying “don‘t read it”, because there are so many others who do love it. Buuuuuut... I wouldn‘t rush to it 🙄😉 2y
Kalalalatja @Cinfhen haha! Maybe your critical reading of YA has inspired me a bit 😄 and @elisa there might be something in this you like, it did have its moments. But it just got too trope-y for me 2y
Kalalalatja @Redwritinghood @ReadOrDieRachel I‘m so glad I‘m not alone in feeling this way! 2y
Kalalalatja @GatheringBooks you are welcome! 😄 2y
laurenbescoby @Kalalalatja thank you 😧 for someone as old as his character apparently was he was like a teenager. Who 'kidnapped' an actual teenager. It was just...weird. And uncomfortable. And I just got sick of hearing how awkward the awkward girl was. 'Oh no, here's another mark on her clothes'. 😬 2y
Elisa @Kalalalatja I might still grab it if I find it at the used bookstore or something, just out of curiosity 😉 2y
NHLibrarian For Russian inspired fairy tale have you read The Bear and the Nightingale by Arden? 2y
hwestfall @NHLibrarian I really liked The Bear and the Nightingale. We had a snow day in January and I couldn't put it down. I read it in one day 😊 2y
NHLibrarian @hwestfall I read The Girl in the Tower in one day and I‘m eagerly awaiting the third book due in August. 2y
Kalalalatja @NHLibrarian @hwestfall I really liked The Bear and the Nightingale, but I still haven‘t read the second book! 2y

I Capture the Castle | Dodie Smith
post image

I‘m slowly beginning to plan for the second quarter of #booked2018, and so far, this is what I have come up with:

#Flowersoncover: Gob‘s Grief
#Friendship: The Girls
#Childhoodfavorite: I Capture the Castle
#Steampunk: Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Seas
#Bookaboutnature: Prodigal Summer
#Refugeeviewpoint: The Year of the Runaways

I‘m hoping to get the last two from my library 📚

4thhouseontheleft Love the #Folio edition! 2y
Cinfhen Year of the Runaways is a chunkster but @shawnmooney really sang it‘s praises 💗and I love your choice for #friendship (edited) 2y

emilyhaldi I have the same one slotted for Refugee 👍🏻👍🏻 2y
Reviewsbylola I need to start planning too. 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I need to post my plans also! Yours look great. Enjoy! 👀👀 2y
Kalalalatja @4thhouseontheleft it is even prettier out of the slipcase 😍 @Cinfhen I have wanted to read it since its Man Booker nomination some years ago, so I have high hopes for it 🤞 @emilyhaldi exciting to see if we end up liking it or not! @Reviewsbylola @BarbaraTheBibliophage planning is half the fun for me 😅 @ju.ca.no you liked The Girls? I have heard so many mixed reviews 🤔 2y
ju.ca.no @Kalalalatja yes I really enjoyed it! I think I even rated it with five starts🤔 (edited) 2y
ju.ca.no @Kalalalatja but I‘m curious how you will like it, I also read very mixed reviews on it! 2y

Lisey's Story: A Novel | Stephen King

I have over 300 unread books on my shelves. Finding one with flowers on it was hard! I finally realized that under the dust cover, Lisey's Story looks like this. Now I need to read it to find out why! #sparklingmaybookishdreams #flowersoncover

Cinfhen What a gorgeous find!!! 3y
Suzze I know! I had just about given up on finding any flowers, when I spotted them through the shovel cutout. I was really surprised to find this underneath! 3y
maich I found only ebook with flowers on the cover😂 3y
Suzze @maich either flowers are not popular, or we read unflowery books. 3y
