What a beautifully dark novel about five sisters who live a sheltered life under the rule of a strict mother and aloof father. Narrated by the boys in the neighborhood who loved them from a far as they retell the year the sisters committed suicide one by one. A classic tale that was elegantly written with bold characters.

Had a couple other titles I was gonna do, but I feel like I'm losing steam on this whole endeavor. Suffice it to say, I have way too many books AND way too many movies.
Interested to see the upcoming BBC adaptation, though the CG that we've seen so far leaves something to be desired.

Was pleasantly surprised to find one of Brian Phillips' essays to be, in part, about Mishima (the man, not the movie). Had the pleasure of seeing this film in Atlanta with a preamble by it's composer, Philip Glass.

I'm really interested in the mechanics, as it were, of physical media, i.e. books, especially comics. The dimensions of a volume can noticeably shape your experience of it. The Lone Wolf & Cub manga is published in a small, pocket size format, which can only result in a unique reading experience compared to the general standard of books like this.
