#weeklyforecast @Cinfhen

I‘d be pleased to finish these four this week. The three I‘m currently reading are all very good.

When Women Were Dragons caught my eye when someone suggested it for #camptob. Although it wasn‘t voted in, I immediately put it on hold from the library and now it‘s here. 😊📚

I hope everyone has a great reading week!

ShelleyBooksie I really enjoyed This Tender Land! 3w
Cinfhen Like what @BarbaraBB said that camp Litsy long list is the gift that keeps on giving!!! So many AWESOME titles!!!! 3w

I picked these up for #CampToB #CampLitsy, but quit about a third of the way through The Idiot. Any Campers in the US want them?

Can one of our fearless leaders tag everyone for me?

(Edit- Either/Or has found a home but The Idiot is still up for grabs.)

MicheleinPhilly I would love Either/Or! 1mo

Megabooks It‘s nice of you to find them new homes! Thank you! 1mo
Chelsea.Poole I tried The Idiot a while ago and it didn‘t work for me either 😔 1mo
Desha I couldn‘t finish The Idiot either…I made it about a third of the way through as well. I‘m still going to try Either/Or and see if I can finish it! 🤪😊 1mo
Soubhiville @MicheleinPhilly awesome, email me your address: magicbelly@gmail. I probably won‘t get to the post office til Friday. I hope you‘ll like it! 1mo
Soubhiville Thank you @Megabooks for tagging folks. 1mo
MicheleinPhilly Will do! Thanks! 1mo
ItsAnotherJen I'd love to read The Idiot! 1mo
BarbaraBB It‘s so nice of you to share them! 1mo
Soubhiville @ItsAnotherJen great! Email me your address magicbelly@gmail. 😊 1mo
Cinfhen 👋🏽 Another person who bailed on The Idiot!! I love that you shared both books!! I donated my copy to the charity bookshop I volunteer in…it still hasn‘t sold 🙄🤣 1mo
squirrelbrain Glad you found good homes for both books! 1mo
Larkken I never tried the idiot. Either or was cringy but felt like a pretty good mirror for being a stupid adolescent into books and wondering why boys are difficult, so I felt like I HAD to stick with it but don‘t feel I need to read it again 😂 thanks for the tag! I‘m glad they found good homes. 1mo

June #readingwrapup 🥰📚

One way I know it‘s a great reading month is that I‘m choosing to keep most of the books I read. I‘ll be passing Warlight and Remains of the Day into my LFL, and I‘ll probably send Good Eggs to my mom because I think she‘d love it too.

Favorites? Really I‘d be listing almost all of them. All 3 from the #CampToB #CampLitsy list were excellent.

marleed I love keeping the books I love. I mix my TBR with books read, but I‘m tempted to reserve an entire bookcase for 5* reads. I‘m curious to know, but think I would, overflow the shelf. 1mo
Kdgordon88 Great reading month! 1mo

This is an originally set up book. In short it‘s about a true crime writer doing research for his next book. This leads to various books and styles and stories. Like I said an original book, fun to read but not mind blowing. A light pick! #CampToB

Ruthiella I definitely want to read this! There were so many books on the #CampLitsy longlist that I want to read. 1mo
squirrelbrain Me too @Ruthiella - in fact I was only just looking at the ‘long‘ longlist (before we took off any books that weren‘t going to be published in time) and there‘s a *lot* to go at, but they all sound so good! 1mo

I went in totally blind, had no idea what this was going to be about. I wound up really liking it. It made me cry.

Thanks #CampToB for voting it into the list, I‘m not sure I would have picked it up on my own. Looking forward to the discussion!

Megabooks Oh fantastic! I‘ve been looking forward to this for months! I‘m glad you enjoyed it. 😁😁 1mo
BarbaraBB I have no idea either what the book is about but I am intrigued now! 1mo
squirrelbrain I‘m so pleased, as this is one I nominated for the #camplitsy longlist (only because I have it on #netgalley!). I‘m trying to wait until the right weeks to read it, but may cave soon! 1mo
Soubhiville @squirrelbrain I would have liked to have waited, but my library hold came in. Hopefully I‘ll be clear enough when the discussion comes! 1mo
squirrelbrain I‘m trying to figure out what to do re the two August #camplitsy books, which I‘m getting from the library…. Reserve now and get them too early or risk getting them too late… 🤔 1mo

#WeeklyForecast 26/22

After a month of way too much alcohol and junk food my sister and I started an 11 day detox. So far that mostly leads to a headache all day so I won‘t have too high ambitions about finishing books this week.
I started and am loving the Strout. The tagged book I bought for #CampToB (of which I hear or read nothing by the way, isn‘t that weird?) because it is so out of my normal reading. Not sure what I‘ll make of it!

vivastory Good luck with the detox! I was also planning something similar & then the Supreme Court decision came out. Might have to wait a couple of weeks 🙃 1mo
squirrelbrain I loved the Strout. Hope the headache isn‘t too bad! 😬 1mo
Cinfhen I can totally relate to detox headaches 🤕they do go away and you‘ll feel so much better!! So nice to be doing a detox with your sister 👯‍♀️ 1mo

TrishB Good luck 👍🏻 1mo
Graywacke Headaches stink. Hopefully only one bad day and lots of ibuprofen (or whatever your equivalent is). 1mo
BarbaraBB @vivastory You might need a little wine indeed - or a lot 😇. Did you read Devil House? Somehow I think you have or wanted to? 1mo
BarbaraBB @squirrelbrain @Cinfhen @TrishB @Graywacke Thanks! Lots of ibuprofen indeed and hopefully lots of discipline too 😉😘 1mo
batsy All the best on the detox and hoping that headache doesn't persist for much longer! 💜 1mo
Megabooks Good luck with the detox! 💜💜 I preordered the Darnielle and link to my review. I loved it but there are definitely mixed reviews overall. Megabooks's post on Litsy https://litsy.com/p/R1dWY1VmR1dP 1mo
BarbaraBB @Megabooks You‘ve read it! I could have known of course but somehow missed your review. It‘s encouraging though, thanks 🤍🤍 1mo

#weeklyforecast @Cinfhen

I had to hibernate Hood for now. It‘s very good but just too sad for this moment in time.

So I moved on to Legends & Lattes, light frothy delicious fantasy. I‘m just 2 chapters in and it‘s lovely.
This Time Tomorrow is for #CampToB, audio from my library since it‘s not a book I would have chosen to read otherwise. I am liking it so far though.

My up next are flexible, but possibilities for the week.

squirrelbrain Good to hear you‘re enjoying the Straub so far! 1mo
Cinfhen I really liked the Straub wayyy more than I thought I would!! How‘s the memoir?? 1mo
Soubhiville @Cinfhen I haven‘t started Rememberings yet, but I‘ve heard Sinead had a difficult childhood so I‘m preparing myself for that. I‘m almost done with the Straub and it‘s quite good! 1mo
Cinfhen Duh 🤦🏼‍♀️I see that now, so clearly labeled!! I‘m super curious, I bet it‘s good. And for what it‘s worth, I really enjoyed your other up next book 1mo
Soubhiville @Cinfhen I‘ve loved Nina La Cour‘s YA, so I‘m looking forward to Yerba Buena. 😊 1mo

Another great #CampLitsy #CampToB book!

I learned so much about Deaf culture. I thought the story was great and the contrasting characters helped readers see things from multiple angles.

Looking forward to tomorrow‘s discussion.

keithmalek Why does your doggie look so sad? 1mo
Soubhiville @keithmalek she doesn‘t like being too close to books for photos. I don‘t know why, but she doesn‘t trust them 🤣. It‘s fine if it‘s in my hand, but once it‘s on it‘s own near her, I guess she thinks anything could happen. 1mo

#weeklyforecast @Cinfhen

I‘m hoping to finish News of the World today- it‘s So Good! I‘ll probably watch the movie sometime in the next week too.
True Biz 2nd half for #campTOB is next up. I‘m enjoying Hood too. I still haven‘t decided whether to bail on The Idiot, which means I probably will.

I‘ve got several audiobooks downloaded, we‘ll see what I‘m in the mood for on my way to work in the morning.

Happy Reading friends!

AmyG I loved News of the World. Brace yourself….while the movie is not the book, it wasn‘t bad. 2mo
squirrelbrain Looking forward to next weekend‘s discussion on True Biz…. 2mo
Addison_Reads I bailed on The Idiot last week. I just couldn't get into it. 😕 I was hoping to read it so I could then read Either/Or for #CampLitsy but I will just have to skip that one and enjoy reading everyone else's responses. 2mo

Soubhiville @AmyG I just finished the book and absolutely loved it. I‘ll expect some changes with the movie. It‘s still worth watching? 2mo
Soubhiville @Addison_Reads I‘ve just about decided to join you on that skip. I‘m finding parts of The Idiot amusing, but the lack of plot is wearing on me. 2mo
Addison_Reads @Soubhiville I agree. Some parts were very witty, but it just wasn't making me want to pick it up and finish it. I decided to move on and perhaps I'll revisit one day. I loved News of the World 💚 My book Club read it this year and we had an excellent discussion about it. 2mo
squirrelbrain I‘ve heard lots of mixed reviews for The Idiot. I‘ve only just started it but hoping to have lots of time this week to read it (or not!) 2mo
Cinfhen I bailed on The Idiot too! It was just driving me crazy🙃but I LOVED 2mo
AmyG I‘d watch the movie. It was decent. 2mo

*sobbed into the sand finishing this book*
Absolutely loved this time travel novel which I read (early) for #CampToB — so far a favorite of the year. Totally unexpected because time travel usually doesn‘t work for me, nor does sappy which I assumed it was. A delight from start to finish and one I‘ll be recommending to many…a love letter to NYC, teen angst, scifi, & dads. The parent-child relationship hit me HARD, both as a child and as a parent.

BkClubCare Yay! You've amped up my interest significantly! Putting my July library holds now. 2mo
AmyG Wow...high praise. I will have to bump this up. 2mo
jlhammar Can't wait for this! Hope to start it this weekend. 2mo
Megabooks So excited to read this next month! Glad you enjoyed it! 2mo
