Let‘s try this again…I started this one in May and had to put it down. With end of school and graduation for my oldest, I didn‘t have the headspace for it. But, I love this author, so here we go again! It‘s my May #doublespin pick.
It‘s also on my #10beforetheend list.

Suddenly she was seized with the cold realization that she would be asked to sew many black dresses in the months ahead as her patrons…donned the somber colors of mourning custom demanded. #seamstress #CharacterCharm

My goodness this was such a unique, strange, and fantastic book. It takes place just as the Civil War is starting and follows President Lincoln mourning the death of his young son. With pieces of history )and ghosts!) floating through the novel, this made me smile, cry, and wonder at the power of the written word. Brilliant on #audio with more than 150 narrators, led by David Sedaris and Nick Offerman. So good!

We do not care that when we complain about having our period for 19 days straight, you consider that too much information. If we have to live with it, you have to hear about it. 🩸
We're in #perimenopause , and we have no filters anymore. 🤣

I bought myself flowers. 💐

Happy Presidents‘ Day* to those who celebrate.
Some good ones who must be looking on in horror at what we‘ve become, and some bad ones who must be patting themselves on the back for their part in getting us here.
IMHO part of the job of President is respecting the people who work for you. ALL of them. In this time of “narratives over facts,” starting tomorrow I‘ll share a few narratives about my experience as a #longtimefed employee.

One of my favorites by Erik Larson. As always well-researched and well-written and Will Patton‘s narration evokes a mental movie-reel. Crazy historical parallels and ahhhh Easter Egg references.

What a delightful, weird end to my 2024 reading adventures. Absolutely a fever dream, and not something I would‘ve picked if my partner hadn‘t told me to read it, but great nonetheless. P.S. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
