#AyUpAugust #UnderneathTheStars

It‘s underneath the stars that Carina is able to read the map no man can read and find the island which leads to Poseidon‘s trident 🔱!

I enjoyed this backstory of how Carina learned to study the stars ⭐️!

Cinfhen Sounds heavenly 😉😇😇 3y
CrowCAH @Cinfhen lol I see what you did there! 😍 3y
squirrelbrain Pretty cover! 💙 3y
rubyslippersreads I 💙 that cover! 🌟 3y

(Day 21 - #UnderneathTheStars)

*Erazim Kohák is a Czech national whose family escaped to the US in 1948. While on sabbatical from Boston College, he built a cabin—without and beyond the borders of electricity—in the mountains of New Hampshire. He spent his time there writing one of the greatest philosophical considerations of nature and the environment and our moral obligations to it ever written. Comparisons to Thoreau are ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ (cont.) numerous, facile and over-simplifications. Comparing “The Embers and the Stars” to Thoreau‘s “Walden” is highly reductive and does not do Kohák justice. ♥️ (edited) 3y
Cinfhen Cool 3y
gradcat @Cinfhen 😎😁♥️ 3y
squirrelbrain I‘d love to know more about his life in the cabin! 3y
gradcat It‘s a really interesting book, but I fear life in the cabin is used more as his ambience...there‘s some stories of his living there, but the book is chiefly about moral philosophy historically, and eco-morality currently. You could live like this—it is possible—but if not, the very least we can do is have an environmental ethics to live by. 3y

#There‘s a stack of books #UnderneathTheStars and on my shelves. Here are 7 “starry” titles. The 3 on the left are unread on my Kindle & the 4 to the right I have read and enjoyed. The tagged book is a recent YA read & very good, as is “Where the Forest Meets the Stars.” 🌠⭐️✨💫🌟

Cinfhen Like all these celestial titles 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 3y
squirrelbrain I used Where the Forest Meets the Stars for this prompt - I really enjoyed it! 3y

This morning I was going to do The Fault in Our Stars but forgot to take a picture. Late in from work and I thought someone is bound to have already done that, I‘ll do this one instead 😁
And no one‘s done my original.

squirrelbrain I nearly did The Fault in my Stars but didn‘t... 😁 Hope your day wasn‘t too horrendous - that‘s a very late evening... 3y
TrishB @squirrelbrain all those things that need doing before the start of term 😱I‘ve already taken Friday and Tuesday off so am panicking to get things sorted! But long weekend ahead. (edited) 3y

A true classic from the Past, written in 1935 and made into a film starring Michael Redgrave. A great book.

A Bend in the Stars | Rachel Barenbaum
post image

#AyUpAugust #UnderneathTheStars We are all so connected ~ The other day this tagged book was featured as a local debut author at the Philly bookstore I visited with @MicheleinPhilly 🎉 I pointed out the book to Michele, because the author, Rachel Barenbaum spent this past year living in Israel in the same city, I live in. I had no idea Rachel Barenbaum is a Philly native. Unfortunately I wasn‘t able to hear her speak in either Philly or Israel.

Crazeedi Serendipity! 3y
squirrelbrain Woah! All a bit spooky....! 3y

Northern Lights | Nora Roberts
post image

Set in Alaska, this book by Roberts combines suspense with romance #underneaththestars . One of the first “suspense” novels I read by Roberts, who used to be my go to for escape reading - I‘ve moved more towards cozy mysteries for that, though I still do pick up Roberts‘ novels. I liked this one. #ayupaugust

Cinfhen Nora Roberts has quite an extensive catalogue of novels. Very impressive 🙌🏻 3y
LibrarianRyan @Cinfhen The thing with Nora, is if you read too many of her books at once you begin to notice how repetitive they all. Usually the same plot with different characters, setting, etc. They are still entertaining, and I do love them, but... 3y
squirrelbrain I don‘t think I‘ve read any Nora Roberts.... they‘ve always got loads at the library though... 3y

Cinfhen Similar to Danielle Steel @LibrarianRyan 🙄 3y
Melissa_J @Cinfhen @squirrelbrain @LibrarianRyan I‘m not a romance reader at all, and always shied away from Robert‘s books for that reason, but I love the romantic suspense “In Death” novels she writes as JD Robb. I was surprised by how well written they are, and I love the characters. The first book in the series is this one 3y
squirrelbrain Thanks for that reco @Melissa_J ! 3y
LibrarianRyan @Melissa_J I can not get into the In Death novels no matter how much I try. I normally like to read a trilogy and then I take a year or two break. I have her Year One series to start. And I was thinking of getting her Dark Witch series. I haven't read that, but I have read most of her stuff prior to 2010. 3y

2 books for the price of 1 prompt here!

1. #underneaththestars took me to #rewritethestars in the Greatest Showman soundtrack, so the book about P T Barnum.

2. Jenny Lind features in the Greatest Showman, and thanks to @EadieB posting the info about Kate Rusby, I managed to link their nicknames as they are both called 'nightingales'.

#ayupaugust @Cinfhen @squirrelbrain

Cinfhen Well played 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼I LOVED the Greatest Showman 🎶such a great soundtrack ♥️ 3y
EadieB Love the link to the Jenny Lind book and Kate Rusby. 3y
