This is a good, thick #fantasy book with an amazing world and a story that pays off. #TriggerWarning for both sexual abuse and misandrist violence. #IfYouLiked The Handmaid's Tale or the worldbuilding of Ursula K. Leguin, I highly recommend it. #ifyoulikedthisreadthis

A weak pick - maybe a 3 if I assigned numbers (which I don't). The language is wonderful and poetic, and fortunately it's not an entirely epistolary novel, there's narration in between the letters. However, I have Demands on my time travel stories, and this is a little too soft - not much of the hows or whys. It makes sense as the main characters don't know. Still. Fast read, only 200 short pages.

Romeo and Juliet meets Doctor Who. What‘s not to like? I think the novella length was perfect for this story. It left you wanting more without feeling like you missed out on anything.

rachelsbrittain Completely agree. I really enjoyed this one 3d

This grim near-future novel is set in a world of electronic garbage, sorted and handled by migrant workers who are treated as if they were garbage too. Mimi, one of the so-called "waste people," draws the attention of a local clan boss and suffers terrible, unthinkable consequences; meanwhile, the American representative of a global recycling conglomerate makes promises while pursuing a secret agenda. A visceral, disturbing vision of the future.

"trees fall in forests and make sounds." "The schooner's name is Queen of Ferryland". "Atlantis sinks. Serves it right. Red hates the place." Overall very quotable.

THIS BOOK

Eggs Omg love that 4d
vivastory I've heard nothing but praise for this one 4d
Moray_Reads @vivastory @eggs I've never read anything quite like it but the prose is so lush and beautiful. There's a real flair for metaphor. I absolutely loved it
