Demon Copperhead: A Novel | Barbara Kingsolver

The language is excellent… and I want to go read an SA Cosby novel instead. Rural noir addressing many of the same issues… and road trips with heists or murders. Plot beyond growing up in this book? #notfeelingit #maybeitgetsbetter

#BookReport #WeeklyForecast

My journey reading Shadow of the Wind is years long but finally finished on audio. Glad I didn‘t bail but probably won‘t read the others in the series. Dial A was okay, funny but there is a part of the story where I‘m not a fan. Still love the Veronica Speedwell series so it‘s the pick of the week. Hope to finish all 5 ongoing books this week.

Cinfhen I see you gave #Drz the #ColdShoulder 😂😂😂I‘m about to do the same!!! #NotFeelingIt 2y
Deblovestoread @TheAromaofBooks Sarah, I forgot to tag you in my original post. Dial A for Aunties was my November #Doublespin. 2y

Mehso-so

This for me was way too long, far too much romanticising of the story and the man.
He's a killer not a lover I don't want to know that he cried at Christmas or how he f**ked! I wanted to know how he killed! God dammit...

I can‘t seem to get into City if Endless Night. So, since I have that for a while from the library, I‘m moving on.

Bailedbailed

I‘m on page 65 and I pretty much hate this book. Cedar Songmaker, and this book as a whole, feel so contrived. I just can‘t do it anymore. #botm, you‘ve really been letting me down recently. #botmchallenge 50/55

LeeRHarry I haven't read it but as soon as heard of it I was wondering if this was just a case of jumping on The Handmaid's Tale bandwagon - shame you didn't like it 😔 6y
UnabridgedTomes It got terrible reviews on npr books too. 6y
stuck.in.the.stacks I read it and gave it 3.5 🌟 I'm all about people having to survive and be on the run so I enioyed it for that. I was told to get through p. 70 and it would pick up so I knew it would start out slow and wouldn't be my best read of the year. 6y

Tamra I‘ve only read one of her books that I really liked, and in fact I LOVED it. Any others were just ok or I bailed on. (edited) 6y
RedbagReadbooks @I struggled the whole way through. I didn‘t like Cedar. I was disappointed because I had heard some good reviews about it. 6y
Reviewsbylola Hmmmmm now you‘re making me wonder if I just need to read a few more pages?!? @felinesandfiction 6y
Redwritinghood I just finished part I. Everything does feel a little wooden - characters, dialogue. I‘ll probably finish it, though, because I do want to see what happens. 6y
stuck.in.the.stacks @Reviewsbylola its up to you. I can understand why people DNF it. I just have a hard time doing that in general. 😂 6y
bedandabook Oh no, I‘m just about to start this one this evening! 6y
Reviewsbylola I bail a lot but I actually paid for this book so it was painful. 😂 @felinesandfiction 6y
Reviewsbylola I definitely think she bit off more than she could chew. It just falls flat. @LeeRHarry 6y
Reviewsbylola I‘ve read one of her other books and thought it was ok. It didn‘t leave a lasting impression. I‘ll keep my eye out for that one. @Tamra 6y
Reviewsbylola Glad I‘m not the only one. I‘ve seen some pretty dismal reviews. @Aluciddreamer @UnabridgedTomes 6y
Reviewsbylola That‘s when I knew it was time to bail. I stopped caring. @Redwritinghood 6y
catiewithac This novel reminds me a lot of Laura van den Berg‘s Find Me. It‘s definitely not a page-turner but I like Erdrich‘s slow pace. More time to digest her luscious prose! 6y
razmanda Oh, no! I love Erdrich and am really looking forward to this one. 6y
Cinfhen I was pretty sure I'd hate this one...I skipped this month! But im so curious for Dec 6y
Megabooks I‘m skimming large sections. #notfeelingit 6y
Caksf I just finished it and in my opinion, you didn‘t miss much by not finishing it. 6y
Lyn-Mara I'm trying....but having to force myself to pick it up. Disappointed with my BOTM pick. 6y
Mdargusch Ugh! 6y

Having a hard time FINISHING up is more like it. Anyone else have a hard time getting into a book? Do you typically bail or do you try to push through? #startup #doreeshafrir #notfeelingit #whatisthisbookevenabout

Redwritinghood I used to never bail, but now I do so more often. I give it at least a third or so of the book before I do, though. 7y
moranadatter I managed to finish it, but I didn't enjoy it. Watching people getting into easily avoidable trouble really isn't my thing. 7y
Purrfectpages @Redwritinghood I don't know why I feel so guilty when I bail. I need to let go. @moranadatter I just don't see the point. Am I supposed to care about these people? 7y

HeatherBookNerd I'm getting to where I will bail if I'm 50 or so pages in and hating it. Now audiobooks, I bail all the time. I have a low tolerance for bad narrators. I'll give it about an hour, and if I'm not feeling it, I'll bail. (edited) 7y
Purrfectpages @HeatherBookNerd I'd imagine it's different with audiobooks. I've only done a few of those. I have a very low tolerance for others reading to me lol 7y
[DELETED] 206653737 I normally try to push through and sometimes skim over half heartedly. I have given up sometimes though. It's frustrating to keep reading something you're not into knowing I could be reading something and enjoying it. 7y
Purrfectpages @bookish22 I agree. I guess I just keep hoping it gets better. At some point I also end up feeling it's too late to turn back lol 7y
