This will be my last book of 2019 and completes the prompt #newin2019 for #booked2019 @Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraTheBibliophage (separate post coming up shortly summarising what I've read for the Fall prompts).

Crazy Rich Asians will probably be my first read of 2020.

#lastfirst @BookNAround

4 🌟 for the book, I like the MCs but felt the ending was a bit 'where did that come from'? Will be reading more by the author though.

Cinfhen Woohoo 🥳 well done ❤️ 2mo
jenniferw88 Also #holidayread for #readnosedreindeer #wintergames @Clwojick @StayCurious - it isn't very festive but it takes place in December. 2mo
BookNAround I still need to read Crazy Rich Asians. I wanted to read it before I saw the movie but that didn‘t happen. I really liked the movie though so I‘m sure the book will be great. 2mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage Sorry it wasn‘t more stars, but still glad you found a new author! 😁 2mo

This will probably (no, certainly!) be my shortest book review ever. I love, love, love this book. If you read the others in Kate Atkinson‘s Jackson Brodie series, you‘ve either already finished this, or it‘s high on your TBR. You must read this book! It flows beautifully, the writing is acute, and the characters—all of them—are multi-layered. One caveat: One should read these in order, because each successive ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ (cont.) book refers back to earlier books and the multiple cases in them. Enjoy! ♥️ (edited) 2mo
Ruthiella Yay! I love this series. I want to re-read the first four however before I tackle Big Sky! 😀 2mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage You‘ve been cranking through some prompts—awesome job! 👊🏻♥️📚 2mo

Cinfhen Join us for a group buddy read of Case Histories @Ruthiella #Belowzer00s it‘s the second weekend in January/ I‘m posting more details later today 😁 2mo
Cinfhen Another awesome review @gradcat 🙌🏻❣️ 2mo
gradcat @Ruthiella You‘re going to love it! It‘s not a bad idea to reread them—there was a least one plot line that I didn‘t remember from the earlier books...I went back and found it, though. Happy reading! And Happy New Year to you! 🥳🥂♥️ (edited) 2mo
gradcat @BarbaraTheBibliophage I have finally managed to get into a bit of a routine (which did get knocked around a bit during the holidays). I‘ve set aside a certain time of day for reading, and there‘s always before bed (but I tend to nod off). I intend to read much more in 2020, but I am proud of myself for completing Booked2019. Can‘t wait to start new 2020 challenges! Thanks for all you do, Barbara! Happy New Year, and best wishes for 2020! 🥳🥂♥️ (edited) 2mo
gradcat @CarolynM It‘s just a perfect book, am I right? Thanks for commenting here! ♥️ 2mo
gradcat @Cinfhen Thanks for your (always) kind comments!! Are you proud of me for finishing Booked2019? 😂🤣 Happy New Year, Cindy! 🥳🥂♥️ 2mo

Read by the delicious Richard Armitage, this is a horror-tinged psychological suspense novel that has some fantastically creepy moments.

Cinfhen Nice! I like a good impulse read too!! Glad it didn‘t disappoint 2mo
ferskner @Cinfhen wellllllll impulse read isn't exactly right. I had to read it for work, so it wasn't on my TBR, so I didn't know where else to count it for the winter games. :) I would love for more of my reading to be impulse reads! 2mo

Cinfhen Hahahahaha/ let‘s leave it as an impulse read!!! It sounds better than work assignment 2mo

I was really excited to read this book because it got so many good reviews. It started out with a strong ore use and I thought it was going to be really interesting and then it just fizzled out for me. Too many characters and a bit slow. It also just took to long for everything to come together with the varying plot lines for me. #booked2019 #newin2019

Cathythoughts Too many characters is a “ no go area” for me ... 😳 3mo
Victoriahoperose @Cathythoughts it‘s also a bit difficult (in my opinion) because it‘s set in Russia and the character names can be similar at times and hard to keep track of. 3mo
Cinfhen I‘m very curious about this book as I took it out from the library back in June but had to return it before I had a chance to read it. I think I need to be in a good headspace for this one. 3mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage I‘m reading it now, since it‘s my real life book group‘s choice. Not far enough in to judge, though. 2mo
knadams Glad I‘m not the only one who felt this way. With so many wonderful reviews, I was expecting something different. 3w

Reading this is like sitting next to Maurice in the bar, having a glass of malt with him, listening him tell the stories of five people over one evening. These are people who mattered to him most. Maurice felt incredibly real, and through his monologues, he reveals his life, love, regret, and shame. So much emotions and warmth, I chuckled, and cried with Maurice. ❤️it. Look forward to read the author‘s next book.

TrishB I really enjoyed this one too. 3mo
erzascarletbookgasm @TrishB Such a good debut, and I know @Cathythoughts liked this too. 3mo

“I‘m here to remember – all that I have been and all that I will never be again.”

84-year old Maurice sits alone in a bar of a local hotel one evening, and made five toasts to the five most important people in his life. Each chapter tells the stories of these people. The first story already hit me hard! 😭

#currentlyreading for #Booked2019 #newin2019 (published in January 2019).

Cathythoughts Lovely post ❤️💔 3mo
BarbaraBB I had this stacked already. You make it sound so good! And that picture 😍 3mo
