Reread. I didn't like it as well as Fourth Wing. I'm not a reader who enjoys very detailed spice, but I am still invested in the characters and I love the action. Letter I #LitsyAtoZ @Texreader

DGRachel I saw a couple different posts on Threads mentioningpeople giving Yarros sh*t for writing Dragon 🌽 because if it‘s a woman writing fantasy it must be trash. I didn‘t have any interest in this series but that attitude makes me so mad, I‘m now going to have to buy the whole series even if I never read them. 1h
Butterfinger @DGRachel how demeaning. She can write a great story. I think romantsy genre is for those who like it. I don't, but I am honest enough to say it wasn't the sex as much as I couldn't quite follow the rules of magic in the Navarre world. And, that's on me, not Yarros. Which means she can hold her own with Tolkien or Martin. I can't understand them either. LOL!!!! 22m
Butterfinger @DGRachel I mean romantsy does have a loyal fan base. 20m
DGRachel I have a friend that LOVED the first book, so I‘m definitely going to try the series out. So far, I‘ve only encountered one Romantasy author I like, so I know I‘m extra picky about the writing style but Tolkien bores me. 😂 I have a feeling there could be no romance at all and those same people would still say disparaging things. 🤬 now

A good historical fiction novel that showcases the glamor of Hollywood and film along the French Riviera at the Grand Hotel, set against the backdrop of the start of WWII. There‘s romance and a thriller-esque thread woven into the storytelling. The list of who‘s who in Hollywood in 1939 is staggering, and the MC Annabel (who knows photography) mingles with them all (hence my choice for #BBRC #Adult #Paparazzi ).

Great #SundayBuddyRead choice!

AmyG This was a fun book. I flew through the sections. 2h

My 4th time reading this & I finally picked up on some of the clues! There‘s nothing like a wildly gesticulating Poirot dancing his way down the street to make one laugh (and I always picture the Suchet Poirot in my mind).

Discussion tomorrow! I‘ll post questions mid to late morning, US East Coast time. #192025 #1920 #LitsyAToZ #LetterM #52BookClub25 #TitleStartsWithLetterM #BBRC #Adult #AuthorCelebrity #AgathaChristieClubR3 #ChristiesCapers

TheAromaofBooks I've read this so many times and still find it to be great fun. I love Hastings so much!! 2h
Aims42 That‘s who I picture as Poirot too 😂 Loved Hastings in this one too 2h

Well this was totally unexpected!
I've seen this book around a lot but never really paid attention to it. Then I saw it was an Apple TV show, and being me I obviously decided to read the book first.
Not only was it something totally different and refreshing but it was really deep, and spoke to my heart in ways I didn't expect.
In conclusion I get the hype.

This book was a lot of fun and my first book complete for #AuldLangSpine I think it‘s a good fit for people like me who often feel intimidated by the fantasy genre. This story was just so easy to get into. I didn‘t love that it ends on a cliffhanger but I feel like I am invested and will be continuing the series for #SerieLove2025 also I need more Kingsley 🤭🐸👑 #LitsyAtoZ #LetterA

Texreader Yay for #letterA!! 21h

Abby has run away from college seeking adventure. Her dad, a paleontologist, has left her out of his own adventures digging up dinosaurs. So when she and private detective learn that dinosaur bones have been found, Abby practically forces Jackaby to investigate. Meanwhile Jackaby has taken on the task of caring for kittens. Sadly, neither the bones nor the kittens are what they appear to be, and neither is the handsome young cop who has caught ⬇️

Texreader Abby‘s eye. The cop Charlie, Jackaby, and Abby set out to catch the monster plaguing the site of the dig. An excellent side story—based on real life—is about the two famous paleontologists who fight over who owns the right to the dig and the bones! And there‘s one more mystery to be solved: who killed the beautiful woman who now resides as a ghost in Jackaby‘s house? #litsyatoz #letterB 2d
Karisa These books are so much fun! I had kind of forgotten about them. Thanks for reminding me 😊 2d

Abby, new in town and clueless about magic and the supernatural, finds work immediately with private detective Jackaby. Jackaby can see things no one else can, and thus can solve mysteries involving the bizarre and wondrous. Abby moves into his guestroom and befriends the house‘s previous owner, now a ghost. Abby and Jackaby, with the help of a young cop who is more than he appears, help to solve murders that are preceded by the noise of ⬇️

Texreader incessant crying. When Abby and Jackaby hear the noise, they fear they are the next victims. Of course, all is not as it seems in this otherworldly book. Jackaby employs unusual methods to try to discover the culprit much to the annoyance of a police chief who doesn‘t believe in Jackaby‘s nonsense. This is a great book but I wish the narrator gave Jackaby more nuance. She uses precise, unwavering pronunciation that can be uncomfortable. 2d
