I‘m sorry I haven‘t posted in a while. This book took me forever to get through, but it was well worth it. I hadn‘t realized that I needed a Les Mis retelling in my life until I heard about this book. The elevator pitch is actually, “les mis in space,”! 🤯 Seriously, this book is really good and the first in a series, so there is more adventure to come.

I have FRESH NEW #bookreviews up on my blog for #TheNewMe by Halle Butler (dark comedy, literary fiction), #SkyWithoutStars by Jessica Brody and Joanne Rendell (YA sci-fi reimagining of #LesMisérables), and #ScaryStoriesForYoungFoxes by Christian Heidicker (middle grade Poe-inspired woodland tale).

I enjoyed all three! But SO different.

So, I finished it you guys. Oh my goodness, that ending...

Ok, I get it, I should‘ve really taken in those parts where I kinda half listened to the story because they had a great message. Hugo was ahead of his time. He was essentially speaking up for the less fortunate, those wronged by the “justice” system, those judged by society. He wanted fair punishment for criminals and rights for children and women as well. I will listen to it again.

SailorMoon Hi! ? I'm sorry, I am not an English native speaker so I can't really figure out what it means when I read "movie tie-in"... is it a short version or you actually read the whole book? Because OMG my sincere compliments if you did!!! I tried, but as much as I loved it, I needed to take a break and read something else LOL I only read the first tome out of three ? 5y

TheBookAddict @Hufflepuff16 it‘s ok. It means that it‘s the book with a cover picture taken from the movie. I actually listened to the audiobook. It‘s too long of a book for me to actually read the book 😆. I just listened to it while I was doing other things. 5y

TheBookAddict @DarcysMom I was too, since it‘s sooo long. This version that I‘m listening to is on hoopla and I think the narrator is pretty good. He doesn‘t have an annoying voice, so I don‘t mind listening to him for a while. Hoopla has 2 or 3 different version with different narrators and you may find others on CloudLibrary or Audible as well, so there are choices out there. You just have to make sure you get the unabridged version. (edited) 5y

TheBookAddict @DarcysMom I have to admit that I sometimes half listen to the author‘s long winded reveries/philosophies 😆. I do have to say that the narrator in this version was speaking quite slow so I am listening to it at a 1.5 playback rate. 5y

UwannaPublishme I tackled this monster of a book last year. A Litsy Buddy read helped a lot. Plus I found a pretty good audio on Audible. And when I got tired, I read some pages on @SerialReader ! 😳 It‘s looooooong, but it‘s good! 5y

TheBookAddict @kaye lol, it‘s not a stupid question at all. I just found out what it was a few days ago and when I told him I was making him one he looked at me all confused and asked what in the world that was. It‘s a hooded scarf (SC from scarf + OODIE from hoodie = SCOODIE). Im making a modification and having it be a hooded infinity scarf. He usually forgets his scarf so maybe if it also covers his head and his ears he won‘t be as prone to leave without it. 5y

Kaye Well. Today was not wasted. If I learn one new thing a day , then it‘s not been a wasted day. I learned what a scoodie was. My husband wouldn‘t wear a hat or scarf if we lived on the North Pole and rarely wears gloves so I guess he wouldn‘t use one. I‘m glad it‘ll work for your husband though 🙂 5y

TheBookAddict @kaye lol. Yay, I‘m glad I was able to help you out. I don‘t know where you‘re at, but we‘re in northern Illinois so it gets pretty cold out here and he‘s not allowed to get sick 😆. To be honest his is just the trial run, because I want one for myself. 🤫 don‘t tell him that. 5y

Kaye I‘m fairly close. Northeast Ohio so we get some pretty nippy weather here too. My husband doesn‘t get as cold as I do. He rarely ever even wears long sleeves ! Good luck with your crocheting. Tell your husband we want a photo of him modeling his scoodie. (edited) 5y
