Either the creeping crud that has been going around caught me or it‘s food poisoning from the sketchy smoothie I decided to consume last night in York,PA (smoothies should not be warm) but I have been down for the count all day. Going to start my #hyggehour early and try to catch up on where I want to be for #JanuaryBluesReadathon

Book of Night | Holly Black

#JanuaryBluesReadathon I read this book last year, but didn‘t remember a lot of the details so I wanted to reread it because the second book in the duology was just recently released. As I read this, enough of it seemed familiar that I couldn‘t believe I didn‘t remember details. But the ending? I didn‘t remember that at all and it was fabulous! On to book number two.

LiseWorks Good work. I don't think you're the only one that has to reread a book and tell yourself why you forgot a specific important detail 4h
CatLass007 @LiseWorks I couldn‘t remember any of it until I started reading it. Every sentence was “oh yeah.” 4h
willaful That ending just killed! 3h
CatLass007 @willaful Ikr?! I just started Thief of Night. 3h

“We are creatures of constant awe, curious at beauty, at leaf and blossom, at grief and pleasure, sun and shadow. And it is not darkness that unites us, not the cold distance of space, but the offering of water, each drop of rain, each rivulet, each pulse, each vein….We too are made of wonders, of great and ordinary loves, of small invisible worlds, of a need to call out through the dark.” Love Ada Limon! Her newest collection. ⬇️

SamAnne Startlement is a collection of previous poems and some new ones. This poem is engraved on the NASA spacecraft the Europa Clipper, on it's way tp Jupiter and its moon Europa, which scientists think could have the ability to have life on it. #weekendreads #januarybluesreadathon @liseworks @rachelsbrittain (edited) 6h

#JanuaryBluesReadathon I‘m detecting similar themes in his books. Unhappiness with the current political climate, powerful men who behave like children, men who are misogynists, men who aren‘t misogynists, autistic boys who are cured by mystical means, manipulation of human and animal genetics and the failure of such experiments, the villains getting what‘s coming to them most of the time, some sly humor at the expense of his villains. (cont)⬇️

CatLass007 I think reading a lot of his books might get old after a while but right now I find them entertaining. Plus, he‘s been writing for a long time, and I suspect his writing has changed over the years. (edited) 20h
LiseWorks Interesting choice and to have you join us 14h
CatLass007 @LiseWorks I had some Dean Koontz books in my personal library but hadn‘t gotten around to reading them yet. I googled Zoom book clubs because following a recent surgery I wasn‘t around people at all and needed some kind of human contact. I found an app called BookClubs and joined a few. Some meet via Zoom and some meet via Google Meet. All meet monthly. One of the book clubs is dedicated to Dean Koontz and discusses two books per month. (cont)⬇️ 14h

CatLass007 I thought I‘d give it a shot because I know he doesn‘t write only horror. I consider this book science fiction, and/or fantasy, and thriller. Some things that happen are horrifying but I don‘t consider the book horror. I bailed on a book for another group, Sundry Book Club. The book was The Saint of Bright Doors by Vajra Chandrasekera, and the challenge was Science Fiction by a Sri Lankan Author. I always have high hopes when I start a (cont)⬇️ 14h
CatLass007 book but sometimes those hopes go unfulfilled. February‘s Challenge is Historical Fiction by an Irish Author and we will be discussing Hamnet by Maggie O‘Farrell. The other book club in which I‘ll be participating is the Social Science Fiction Book Club. I‘m still not sure what Social Science Fiction is but I‘ve enjoyed the books I‘ve read so far, even though I‘ve missed a couple of meetings because I confused one time with another. (cont)⬇️ 14h
CatLass007 This month‘s selection is by one of my “must read” authors, Becky Chambers, and is called To Be Taught, If Fortunate. So my reading tastes are pretty varied and I like almost every genre. 14h
LiseWorks Your like me, I like almost all genre and then if I find a good author I read all of their books 13h
CatLass007 @LiseWorks As far as I know, this and one other book are the only ones I haven‘t read by Becky Chambers. She‘s great! 12h

I will be starting the #JanuaryBluesReadathon with the last bit of Forever Odd. Then I‘ll be working on Roadwork for #LosersClub, and rereading Alice in Zombieland before starting the rest of the series.
