The Monet exhibit was wonderful!

Bookwormjillk Was it the one where they project it all around the room? 1mo
Susanita @Bookwormjillk Yes! It‘s at the same place that had the Van Gogh exhibit earlier. 1mo
Bookwormjillk @Susanita I saw that in Asheville and loved it. Such a different experience. 1mo

Renoir and Friends: Luncheon of the Boating Party | Eliza E. Rathbone, Mary Morton, Sylvie Patry

Framed print, cookie tin, and #CoffeeTableBk of Renoir's Luncheon of the Boating Party. I've been fascinated since I saw the original so many years ago. I'm in awe of how artists can make glass look so real. #NewYearNewBooks @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

I adore this cosy image and quote. You can always rely on Van Gogh for wisdom and clarity.

"The best way to know life is to love many things."

Renoir: My Father | Jean Renoir

Pickpick

Great biography, very sensitive and loving with good realistic details. Took time to read since it is a bit old fashioned in style and includes some French which is usually explained. Jean, his son, the film director, writes very well for its time period, the late ‘50s. Worthwhile if you are into Art and France. I loved the artist‘s lack of pretense!

This book is taking a while but it‘s good. Here is a description of how Renoir “attacks” a painting.

Starting a book about the artist, Pierre Renoir, by his son the French film director.

Deblovestoread I‘ll be interested in your review as this is on my NYRB shelf. 7mo
KCofKaysville @Deblovestoread OK. I once saw it on a list of the best nonfiction to read. 7mo
