“His name is Willy, and he belongs to us.”
The Stray Dog was the Caldecott winner in 2002. This book is very sweet and relatable for any child who ever hoped to own a dog

“The boy took off his belt. Here's his collar, he said. The girl took off her ribbon. Heres his lease she said, his name is Willy, he belongs to us“
I think this story would be a good story to share to children to teach a lesson about perspective, the family views the dog as their own and the warden perceives the dog as a stray who doesn't belong to anyone, this story shows that everyone has a place they belong and that others perspective of you or someone is not definitive of who they are.
This book won the Caldecott in 2002, it is a story about a family who meets a stray dog while on a picnic, they play with the dog for a day and believe it must belong to someone, when they leave the dog they cannot stop thinking about him, when they come back they see a warden trying to chase after the dog, the family announces that the dog is theres and he becomes a part of their family
