If you‘re trying to find a book with three generations for #Booked2023, this one would be a good choice. The narrators were wonderful.

A young Bengali family moves to NYC and we get to know sisters Sonia (who I immediately fell in love with) and Tara as they start American high school. The story evolves as they grow and start their own families. The characters are so vibrant, I didn‘t want the book to end.

tokorowilliamwallace I purchased this for a Thriftbooks sale! Glad to see someone talk about it. 1y
Cinfhen Thanks for sharing!!! Glad to hear audio is good! Stacking for #FutureReference 1y
squirrelbrain Sounds great - stacked! 1y
Soubhiville @tokorowilliamwallace I‘m not sure how I first heard of this, but I like reading about Bengali/ Indian/ other similar cultures, and I Adore 🥰 the food from those areas. So this book was a very good fit for me. 1y

This is an interesting memoir that in places doesn‘t seem to have much of a point, but comes together as a fascinating portrait of a family. Rojas Contreras comes from a long line of curanderos in Columbia, those who heal or help through magic. This is completely outside my own belief system, so it was interesting to delve into something so different. And the writing is terrific.

squirrelbrain Hi pupper! 👋 The book sounds great for readingtheamericas23. 1y
TheBookHippie Awe pretty puppy!!! 1y

It‘s no wonder my brain is fried! 🙄 There‘s a lot going on at work at the moment (doing complicated spreadsheets most of the weekend)and I didn‘t realise until I pulled this together *quite* how many books I‘ve got going on!

The top row were all finished this week, fortunately! Loved the Ali (review soon), liked the others, apart from W&P which was a so-so.

Loving all (five!) of my ongoing books so far….

Megabooks I‘ve been curious about the Ali because my library has it. I‘m glad it has the @squirrelbrain stamp of approval! I‘m going to add it to my wishlist for when I can read in print better! 2y
Megabooks I‘m thinking about picking up Nightcrawling as an audiobook. What do you think so far? 2y
MicheleinPhilly This makes me so anxious. 😂 2y

squirrelbrain @Megabooks I was going to recommend the Ali to you (and @cinfhen) but actually on audio. I have both, and started with the e-book but much preferred the audio. The narrator was great. Nightcrawling is *very* dark but I‘m loving it (in print). It‘s so unusual but feels very real ; I can‘t believe how young the author is. 2y
squirrelbrain It‘s doing the same to me @MicheleinPhilly ! 🤣 2y
Cinfhen Im interested in SO MANY of your books!! Taking a screenshot for #FutureReference 2y
Cinfhen #Scribd has the Ali !!!! 2y
squirrelbrain Yay! @Cinfhen On audio as well? It‘s a long book, but doesn‘t feel like it and it‘s well worth the commitment. It‘s high on my list of favourites for this year so far. 2y
TrishB Nope, can‘t do that…..great week though! 2y

Here are my potential choices for #Pop22 - Some books I have 2 options for and others I have no idea. And some I‘m not sure if they actually fit the prompt.

I always love doing the research, now 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I can read all the books.

RaeLovesToRead I wanted to read The Tiger's Wife for the tiger prompt but I can't find what I've done with my copy! 😅🤔🧐 Some good choices 😊 2y
KarenUK Some great choices! 💕 2y
BarbaraBB So many good choices. I‘m having a hard time coming up with a book for many prompts and will check if I can borrow some of your ideas! 2y

Cinfhen Ohhhh, fun!! I‘m loving this title 😉😂 2y
Cinfhen Obviously saving this for #FutureReference 2y
Cortg You've got a couple of my faves on your list! 2y
Cortg I read Daisy Jones but after reading it, I kept hearing how good the audio is. The way the story is told, I'm bummed I read it rather than listened. Just in case you're an audio reader. 2y
Laughterhp @Cortg Oh good to know! I‘ll definitely try to check that one out on audio! 2y
Megabooks Please tag me too even though I‘m not preplanning! 👍🏻💜 2y
Laughterhp @Megabooks Oops! I thought I did tag you! I must have just forgotten. Will do! 2y

What to tag!? Four books tied at my highest rating of a 4.5 (A-). Tough choice but Wen with the tagged because I had fun reading this mystery unfold.

5* = Loved It, want to shout out loud about this book! I do/will own/keep a physical copy. A+
4*= I liked it, would love to discuss. Solid B
3*=Meh, no need to discuss. Average C
2*=Nope D
1*=DNF F

Cinfhen Wow!!!! SO MANY high scoring books! I took a screenshot 2y
marleed @Cinfhen Most months, and by intention, I read across genres. From Oct-Dec I tend to theme read. I thought I might tire of mystery-genre books this month so I‘m surprised by how much I‘ve enjoyed must of what I‘ve read! 2y

I haven't read enough debut authors! Most of the awesome debuts are still on my TBR--I may have to do fewer challenges next year if I want to stop putting off books. I read 5 debuts and would like to see more from 4 of them (sorry, I didn't love Chemistry). But I'll substitute in debut books from my best friends to fill in that space! #5towatch

Natasha.C.Barnes @RealBooks4ever Me too! But I liked The Wangs vs the World and The Mortifications even more! Have you given those a look? 7y
RealBooks4ever @Natasha.C.Barnes I have not! I'll check them out. 😊 7y

Cinfhen Thanks for posting!! I've only read 2 ...MUST add the others!!! 7y
Cinfhen Took a screenshot for #futurereference 7y
Natasha.C.Barnes @Cinfhen 😊 Awesome! Out of curiosity--which did you read? 7y
Cinfhen Wangs & Dreamers! Loved Dreamers & I thought Wangs was fun! 7y
Natasha.C.Barnes @Cinfhen I figured it was either Dreamers and Wangs or Dreamers and Chemistry--those were the most publicized I think. Night sky is poetry. The Mortifications is different from the rest in general style and feeling, but I adored it. It's good if you have an appreciation of magical realism for that book. 7y
Cinfhen Night Sky is my top priority! Looks like a heartbreaker 💔 7y

Red Sun: The Invasion of Hawaii After Pearl Harbor | Richard Ziegler, Patrick M. Patterson

#septembowie #ThisIsNotAmerica Catch up from yesterday. This prompt made me think of alternative history or 'what if' novels. I read the tagged book about what if Japan conquered Hawaii after Pearl Harbor several years ago & finished American War recently with its second American Civil War. The other 4 books are in my #TBR stacks. I have to read books like these in small doses as any more it seems like it actually could be America & that's scary😱

Marchpane Great choices! And I agree about small doses... 7y
Cinfhen Such a great group of books!!! I took a screenshot for #FutureReference 7y
