I‘m 145/231 pages and while I like the concepts presented in the book I‘m struggling with how it‘s written. The pacing is weird, the sentence formatting is weird to me. There‘s long winded tangents and then short staccato like sentences; but it‘s like they don‘t flow nicely. A lot of telling and not showing. Is it worth continuing? #exitwest #poll #continueornot?

haileybean @Megabooks I‘m enjoying the concepts, and open to it having doors left open (BA DUM TSSS) it‘s just the actual writing. Something is obviously propelling me forward or I wouldn‘t have given it this many pages. I‘m just worried the writing style is going to leave a sour taste 4y

JamieArc I picked The KISS Quotient and Calypso too. Sedaris will be in my area soon, so that was a no brained, and in the summer, I really do crave a sexy, light beach read and this seems perfect for it. 6y

Jess7 I get that! We all need some funny! I haven‘t read David Sedaris yet. I‘ve been meaning too, but I think all the books said this might not be the one to introduce a reader to his humor if you hadn‘t read some of his other work, so I decided to skip on that one for now. britt_brooke @JamieArc Yes!! 💚 @Jess7 David Sedaris is one of my favorites! I preordered it on Audible and am going to see him at Parnassus in a couple of weeks. 😄 I‘d probably recommend starting with one of his earlier collections (probably Me Talk Pretty One Day). (edited) 6y
