Simon and I have been spending the afternoons together reading while Nathaniel is in school. He almost frantically reads as many books as he can. Today he looked up at me and said, "Oh baby! I need to read them all!"

pickSimon and I finished the last three chapters today so he could start the next book on vacation. When I told him he read a big book, he had to check the chapter list in the front to make sure I read each one. I've loved our sweet naptime tradition, and will keep reading him the series as long as he'll let me. Since he fell asleep cuddling the book, there's a good chance we'll finish the series. 😍

Simon has taken a particular interest in my Anne of Green Gables books. By "particular interest", I mean he always finds them no matter which shelf I tuck them into, then proceeds to throw them into a pile on the floor. It's embarrassing that after months of this, I finally thought to read him the books. Now we'll read a chapter each day at naptime. He was thrilled to hear the protagonist is a child with red hair. Simon's participation in the #readathon has primarily consisted of him being surrounded (Abe Sapien style) by my collection of YA fiction and yell-reading aloud. He seems to particularly enjoy John Green.
