One Hundred Years of Solitude | Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Today‘s finished soup: “One Hundred Beers of Solitude Red Lentil & Rice Soup” is bright & sunny & delicious. My friends at @BookClubCookbook sent me a couple of their Book Blends as a thank you for taking part in their #BlendsBash2020 & I *had* to start cooking with them so I added this “Hoppy Citrus Sucker Punch” tagged blend to my lentil soup. It‘s a bunch of citrus peels & powders blended with honey, pepper, basil & cascade hops.😋Recipe link⬇️

My final food blogging #BlendsBash2020 dish using the punnily named Book Blend “Tarragon with the Wind”. I love tarragon, I love Béarnaise Sauce (the child sauce of Hollandaise) & I love eggs & potatoes so we have an artery-defying Tarragon with the Wind Blender Béarnaise Sauce Over Poached Eggs on Hashbrown Cakes. It might kill you with the butter but I promise you‘ll regret nothing!?? Recipe with links to these fun book, TV & song blends ⬇️

Kimberlone Oh wow that looks amazing! I absolutely love eggs Benedict and I order it anytime I go out for brunch. That looks like a great twist on a Benedict! 3y

Graciouswarriorprincess I need to try these spices. I use Penzey now. Are they comparable? 3y
vivastory Amazing 3y
rubyslippersreads Not to mention Scarlett‘s beloved home, “Tarra.” 😂 3y
BookishBelle Yum!! 😋 3y
DebinHawaii @Graciouswarriorprincess Well Penzey‘s is tough competition but I think they are good quality & the blends are very good in terms of flavor combinations. A lot of their draw is the punny names of course, but I feel they back it up with the solid quality. 3y
DebinHawaii @rubyslippersreads I wasn‘t even thinking about Tara! 🤣🤣🤣Too funny! 3y
Megabooks I always love seeing your food pics/stories, even if I don‘t comment often! 3y

Finished soup is “One Flew Over the Couscous Nest Middle Eastern Minestrone with Chickpeas & Israeli Couscous. I developed it using the One Flew Over the Couscous Nest Couscous Seasoning from @BookClubCookbook ‘s punny Book Blends (they also have Song Blends & TV Blends) for #BlendsBash2020 blogging event. I‘ll confess I selected this spice blend by its flavors rather than the book which is good but not a favorite. Link to recipe & book blends⬇️

My #audiosouping pick this week. I really liked The Overdue Life of Amy Byler & I don‘t know that I‘ll like this one as much but giving it a shot.

This is the beginnings of a Middle Eastern-ish Minestrone Soup that will have tomatoes, chickpeas, & Israeli couscous added to the veggies. Trying out a new spice blend for #BlendsBash2020 so kitchen experiments. Finished soup pic coming later.

slategreyskies I liked this one, but not as much as the other one you mentioned. For this one, it took me quite some time to really care at all about the characters. The soup looks great! 3y

The finished soup: “Lord of the Fries” Seasoned Pan-Fried Gnocchi in Creamy Garlic Broth. I couldn‘t find my copy of Lord of the Flies, the book the brewpub garlic fries seasoning blend is named after, but the soup more than makes up for that—it was so good I practically licked the bowl. 😋This is the 2nd recipie that I developed for #BlendsBash2020 a blogging event for.@BookClubCookbook & their pun-named book, song & TV blends.

Heideschrampf Don‘t sound too bad! I might try a gnocci/soup combination at some point this fall. Thanks for sharing! 3y
julesG @Heideschrampf Just what I thought. I even have Gnocchi in the fridge. Garlic though... I just put my last few cloves into the ground, hoping to harvest some next year. 3y

Still #audiosouping to this one. I‘d hoped to finish it in October but ran out of time. I am about 60% in & enjoying it. Lots of theories on the whodunnit.

The soup is a kitchen experiment with one of my spice blends for the #blendsbash2020 I am involved in. A different use for the brewpub garlic seasoning—I pan-fried gnocchi in butter & the blend & also added it to the (soon to be creamy) soup base. Finished soup pics to come later.
