#BookSpinBingo update!! I'm not going to tag everyone because I just did that yesterday, and this isn't a super important update – it‘s just to clarify how it will work for anyone who is interested, and then I can link back to this post when I post the “official” reminder next week!!

This will be a long and rambly post, because that's who I am as a person. Curse you, text limits!!!

⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) Thank you so much for all of your feedback yesterday!!! I think this idea is a go for July, and I'm super excited about it!! Just to clarify a little on how it will work - I'll draw my regular two numbers (in this sample, 9 and 1). Then I will put those numbers back in the jar and draw out all twenty numbers, writing them down in order on the bingo card as I go. This means that the official numbers will be mixed in the card randomly.

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) My original plan was to include January, February, March, April, and June as my other five “numbers” to make the 5x5 card. To check off those squares, you would read one book from that month's #BookSpin list. I think I will keep those, but I know a lot of people haven't participated every month, so because I'm awesome at not really making rules, you can either
⬇⬇⬇
4y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) (a) just use those as “Free” spaces and literally read any book you want or (b) actually make your list for July be a list of 25 books instead of 20, and then January is 21, February is 22, etc. The point of #BookSpin is just to get people reading, and to do it in a way that is fun and not stressful, so please pick whichever option stresses you out the least!

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) Because the official numbers are the ones that are worth a “credit“ for completing #BookSpin for the month, I assume most people will try to get a bingo that involves those numbers. So on the sample card you would read books Jan, 9, 18, 3, and 12 OR Mar, 2, 9, 8, and 7 to score a bingo with the #BookSpin number. If you wanted to score a #DoubleSpin bingo, you would have to read 13, 2, 10, 6, and 1 OR June, 1, 12, 16, and 14.

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) And then of course if you wanted to, you could try to score more random bingos by finishing other lines, or even try to blackout the entire card.

But you can read the books in any order, and, as always, can participate as little or as much as you want to. If you just want to read your #BookSpin book and not worry about any of this other nonsense, that‘s totally fine. But I know some of us enjoy objectively silly games that somehow

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) inspire us to read more!!

So that‘s the update/more thorough explanation for #BookSpinBingo. Like I said, I‘ll post the reminder next week and actually tag everyone then, but filtering through everyone‘s comments yesterday, I just wanted to post some clarification for people like me, who like to know what the heck is going on!!

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) You all are SO FUN and I absolutely love hosting this challenge, seeing everyone‘s lists and reviews, and seeing how much you enjoy it. Thank you so much for making this so entertaining and fun. I love it!!! As always, let me know if you have any questions, and also let me know if you want to be added to the tag list for July. You all are the best!!!

THE END 😂

jenniferw88 Thanks for clarifying. Will probably do 5 free spaces, as the mood reader in me is emerging! 😂😂😂 4y
sprainedbrain Love this idea! I didn‘t start bookspinning until May, so I think I will just make my July list have 25 books and plug the extras in as you suggested. You are quite the gamesmaster! 😃 4y
AnneCecilie Thank you for organizing this fun way of reading through the tbr. I‘m not sure what I‘ll to for previous months jet since I didn‘t join until May. Probably depends on my mood 4y
ravenlee I‘m already working on how to incorporate this fun idea into my summer reading program queue. Thanks for hosting this awesome challenge! 4y
Butterfinger Just to clarify, I have been doing bookspin since January (only the first number) so I can mark off the months automatically? 4y
Butterfinger Thanks for having all these fun ideas too. 4y
JamieArc Excited to start curating my BookSpin Bingo card! I already do Bingo cards to get through my TBR but am about to finish my current one, so this is perfect timing. I am just going to add 21-25 to mine. 4y
Thousand-Lives I love this so much! It‘s fun and flexible - perfect for summer reading! Thanks so much for hosting this! Off to make my list... 😁 4y
Librarybelle This is a fun challenge! Thanks for hosting this! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Butterfinger - Well, my original thought was that you would choose an unread book from each of those lists and read it, but honestly, we know how I am about rules, so I'm fine with checking them off if you already read a book for that month 😂 4y
Butterfinger Oh I see. I use the same one each time and fill in the blanks so I am thinking about how I will do it. I'm not confused anymore, just thinking out loud. 😆 4y
Eggs Thanks for further clarification Sarah 💕💕. I think, to simplify for my withered and aging brain 🧠, I will fill the grid with 25 new unread titles and see how far I get. I did 20 in 1 month-I reckon I can do 25! Thanks so much for choreographing all this 🥰 4y
Megabooks I am probably still just going to do the regular bookspin/doublespin because my life feels really out of control right now. I would‘ve really enjoyed this otherwise, though. Very cool, creative idea!! 4y
squirrelbrain Thanks for the update! Very excited! Like a few others I didn‘t start until May so I need to decide what to do with my blank spaces..... 4y
Sargar114 You are too fun! I love it and this! 4y
vlwelser ❤❤❤❤❤ So fun! Thanks for coming up with these awesome games. 4y
AllisonM89 @TheAromaofBooks I think I'm going to use my mothly/free squares as spaces for sequels. Like one of my 20 numbers will probably be Temeraire book one. I can save the free squares to be books 2, 3, etc. or the “next“ Wheel of Time book or my “next“ de Lint book. So all five free book spaces could be de Lint or Temeraire or WoT or whatever Does that make sense? 4y
SaturnDoo @TheAromaofBooks Woohoo I think I might be able to get my list done on time 🤣 this round. Cause you know me, always late and a dollar short. 4y
TheAromaofBooks @AllisonM89 - yes, I love it!! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @SaturnDoo - being prepared is overrated 😂 4y
wideeyedreader This is such a great idea, @TheAromaofBooks! I‘ll totally be participating. Might even draw my own bingo board! 4y
Mollyanna I love this idea! It should be fun. 4y
Clwojick I was going through my books last night, and I was struggling to finalize my list. Part of me wanted to choose the books I want off of my shelf the most, but still want to give a chance. The books I feel like I‘m most likely to bail on, or are not my regular genres. But then I was concerned that by doing that, I may put myself into a reading slump. Then I considered shorter books, or easier reads, to give me a decent chance at finishing all 25 4y
Clwojick In May, I specifically chose books that I could also access the audiobook for as well. I considered this for July as well, as it helps to get through them quicker, thanks to multitasking. Lastly, I wanted to choose the prettiest covers. ♥️But in the end, for July I decided on a complete mix of all of the above. 😅 Here‘s hoping it will go over well! 4y
erinreads Love the bingo twist. Count me in! 4y
rabbitprincess So excited!! I will probably make about a dozen different lists 😂😂 4y
RainyDayReading So excited for this!!!! 4y
CarolynM Thanks for clarifying your ideas. I'm in for sure! 4y
jenniferw88 If we're doing free spaces in place of the months, are we allowed to place these on the board already or do we need to wait for you to post the official one? (I may be working on my #bujo spread for this - I have 2 different lists planned, just need to decide on which one I'm using!) 4y
TheAromaofBooks @jenniferw88 - Well, the months will be mixed in with the numbers when I am drawing them, so they will probably not be in the same spots on the board where they are right now, if that makes sense? I'll be starting with a completely blank board in July & then drawing the numbers/months from scratch. (I'm not completely sure I'm answering your question, so just let me know haha) 4y
jenniferw88 @TheAromaofBooks you've answered it! I'll leave the spread blank for now 😘 4y
maich I don't really understand the whole thing. I will probably read the number you pick as I did in every month. It is that ok? 4y
TheAromaofBooks @maich - Absolutely!! I'll be posting the two regular numbers as always, so everyone can choose if they just want to read those or if they want to do the more complicated method. It's whatever works best for you!!! 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I may not get very far but I'm certainly down to try! 4y
OriginalCyn620 Thanks for the clarification! I‘m not sure yet what I‘m gonna do - either free spaces or a list of 25- but I‘m in! 4y
wanderinglynn Sounds like fun! 4y
VeganCleopatra I'm in! But I just began in June so I'll do the 25 book list for July as others are doing. I like the idea of a book bingo where they're already books long on my tbr that I didn't have to fit into some random category! The list is due the 30th? 4y
TheAromaofBooks @VeganCleopatra - So sorry that I missed your @ !!!! The list is due any time before I draw the numbers on July 2. 😊 4y
VeganCleopatra It's no problem! Thanks. 4y
Bklover Will you add me to the list? I have been a terrible participant so far. I keep doing things like saying I‘m going to participate in the bonanza and then I sabotage myself by putting in 800 page books. I‘m going to be reasonable. I promise. 😬 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Bklover - haha I know the feeling!! I'll add you to the list!!! 4y
Gissy How many books we need in the list? 25? 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Gissy - It depends on how you want to do it. You can either do 20 & use the 5 “month“ spots as Free spaces, you can do a list of 20 & fill in the month spots with books from that month's list, OR you can do a list of 25... because my lack of rules makes things more complicated 😂 But it's whichever makes the most sense/is easiest for you. 4y
Gissy Let's go with the complicated way☺️I also will be reading the June books?but as I say, the purpose of this fantastic "game" of yours is to read books from that long tbr. For me is a challenge to read those books that I had left behind but I want to read. It is like: Shopping from my shelves???? 4y
TheAromaofBooks @thereadingunicorn - No worries!! Since you haven't done #BookSpin before, you'll ignore the Jan/Feb/Mar/Apr/June boxes. Instead, either make your list of 20 books, or make a list of 25 books. Every month (when it isn't bingo) I draw 2 numbers. In the sample, I drew 9 & 1, which are on the top of the bingo card. This month, after I draw the two official numbers, I am going to put them back in the jar & then draw out all 25 numbers randomly. ⬇ 4y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) @thereadingunicorn - Since you haven't done #BookSpin before, for you Jan=21, Feb=22, Mar=23, Apr=24, & June=25. So if you wanted to get a bingo, you would read the official #BookSpin book (no. 9) & then read all the other books from your list that are either in that row or column, so books number 23, 2, 8, & 7 would score a bingo OR books number 21, 18, 3, & 12. Hopefully this makes a little bit of sense!!! 4y
coffeewithbooks @TheAromaofBooks yes that makes a lot since . Is the bookspin no.9 always that number ? 4y
TheAromaofBooks @thereadingunicorn - No, the number changes every month. I draw it out at random!! 😊 The card above was just a sample that I made - the actual bingo card will have the numbers in a different order. 4y
Catherine_Willoughby @TheAromaofBooks i think I get it. Will draw it out as soon as its posted tomorrow. No rush lol 4y
coffees This bingo spin on the bookspin looks fun but I don't understand it Orz 4y
TheAromaofBooks @crimson613 - So to participate just make a list of 20 or 25 books (#BookSpin is normally 20 books, but we need 25 to make the bingo card come out even). Then check out my posts from today. I drew 2 numbers for #BookSpin & #DoubleSpin like usual, then created the bingo card after that. To make your bingo card, you'll match the books from your list with the numbers on the card. So on the sample above, if Pride & Prejudice was book no. 19 on your ⬇ 4y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) list, now it would be in the top corner of your bingo card. Hopefully this makes sense - if you make your list & then check out my posts from today it might come together!! 😂 @crimson613 4y
coffees @TheAromaofBooks I guess what confused me were the months you plugged in and I think in anothet of your posts there were more than one free space? 😆👀💦💦 4y
TheAromaofBooks @crimson613 - So BookSpin is usually 20 books, but you need 25 books to make a bingo card. Originally I was going to have people use leftover books from other months to accommodate numbers 21-25, but in the end people either made their list be 25 books long OR left those numbers as free spaces that can be filled in with any book not on their list. So on this sample it has the months written in, but the “official“ bingo card has numbers/free on it. 4y
