My mom recommended this book, and while she always has phenomenal taste...can I just say, WOW. I wanted nothing more than to curl into this book and never leave.

This is predictable but still a lovely holiday read. Ali - the serious one of her family who has nonetheless made a career as a photographer runs away to ‘the lake‘ with her grandmother. One mopping up a broken heart, I dealing with a hip replacement. Shenanigans with the too good to be true Adonis next door follow. I liked the idea that Ali finds her own path with her career and siblings. The rest … good for a sweet tooth

One thing Carley Fortune books do is make you want a summer at a lake. This is a sequel to her first book and I think I liked it better, mostly bc the characters are adults throughout. Charlie and Alice are good characters and it was nice to check in with Percy & Sam.
I‘m trying to finish all my “summer” books before fall really arrives.

It‘s been a while since I‘ve been able to enjoy the sunroom. There are a few more plants to keep me company now!

Nothing lasts forever, Ali…That‘s why you should grab onto whatever makes you happy now and hold on for as long as you can 🚤

It‘s not a lake , but reading by the river ( river welland in Stamford uk 🇬🇧) under the willow tree with the pups 🐶 watching the swans on a hot summers day 😊With a cute romance ❤️🔥 above average easy read not cheesy, just perfect for summer , so If that‘s your bag your gonna love it

Up next on audio! I always look forward to her books! 🎧

Quite a lovely, frothy summer novel about two beautiful people who will inevitably fall in love. I do appreciate a friends to lovers without much real fiction trope. Bit disappointed I read these in the wrong order though!

#TagYoureIt
@Crinoline_Laphroaig I tag you! The book you posted has a #BOAT on the cover!
@Chrissyreadit names the theme for the week and we play tag!
Thanks @KadaGul for the tag! I‘m passing it on ☺️

Cover caught my eye read. Reminded me of a modern day Rosamund Pilcher novel but with more sex.
Beautiful setting on a lake in Canada, spunky grandmother and clueless young woman. Main characters in their 30s but we're trying to relive their teenage years at the lake so they acted about 17 most of the time. Complete with blushing when a cute boy speaks and I like this girl so I'll constantly tease her. 👇

Seriously stayed up too late to finish this. I really want to go to Barry‘s Bay…. I love this setting and Fortune is becoming (okay, is) an automatic must-read summer author for me now.

Wow! This is a story of chances, taking chances, love, and letting yourself be true to yourself. I loved reading this! 5🌟

The settings for Fortune‘s books are just wonderful. I always want to be there with the characters. I‘m glad we got to revisit Charlie & Barry Bay.

Loved! Loved! Loved! A summer romance that makes you wish you had a cottage by the lake in Canada! I loved Charlie and Alice‘s love story and hope at some point we get to revisit Barry‘s Bay and them!

Fortune has become an auto read for me. Her novels each summer transport me to small Canadian beach towns with delightful and complicated characters that you can help but root for. The setting is a big part of this one and our main characters are so lovely and misunderstood that it took my breath away. Blew through this one in 2 days.

Loved. Loved. Loved.
I live next to a lake, so I always loved reading Carley Fortunes fun lakeside novels. And this one didn‘t disappoint! I don‘t want to say too much about Charlie, but I really connected with him. He lost both of his parents at a young age due to health reasons, and I also lost my dad to that same thing his Dad died from. So I know exactly how he feels, and his thoughts. I connected with him a lot, and loved Alice!

Guess whose feeling better to read again!? 🙋♀️
I‘ve been binge watching BookTube and the new Epic Universe at universal videos. I now want my next vacation at Universal Studios lol 😂

Went to The Buzzed Word bookstore - a bookstore and wine bar- So much fun to walk around with my wine and explore- it‘s tiny but you could tell people who work there love their job!

#BookFourteenOf2025 I haven't finished Salamander yet but grabbed this for an easy long weekend read.

When you live next to the lake, Carly Fortune books just give me those summer vibes to a T 🌞

I‘m an auto read for this author and this is a pick with issues. I love the Ontario settings for Carly‘s stories. I enjoyed these characters (the return of Charlie😃) and their backstories. The meet cute between Alice and Charlie was fun. My issue was spending so time in Alice‘s head as she contemplated Charlie. I wanted Alice out of her head and out on that beautiful lake with Charlie.
