Maybe I just don‘t remember anything about this book besides the names of some of the characters. Very little of this is familiar!

Where Sabriel came from Ancelstierre to the Old Kingdom and travelled all over on her adventure, so far Lirael has only been in the Clayr's Glacier. Mind you, she's only 14.and I'm only up to part 2, ch 14.
I notice that in Sabriel, we never learned the (old) Abhorsen's real name, nor Touchstone's.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
I give it 4 stars only because it‘s a cliffhanger ending. I grew worried that it was leading me toward a cliff, as the plot neared no closer to resolution but the pages continued to dwindle. But alas I cannot dislike the book merely for this, as Garth Nix continues in the incredible vein of storytelling that he began in “Sabriel”. I will be moving on the the next book in the series as quickly as possible.
I greatly enjoyed the first of Nix‘s Abhorsen series, “Sabriel”. I felt like I was in the right frame of mind to pick up the sequel and revisit this wonderful world Nix created.
I really enjoy these books. They are old by it if you are a reader of modern fantasy these feel like what they are all trying to be, or what the authors grew up reading. Looking forward to the next. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
To say I loved this series does not quite express the depth of my emotion. It‘s one of my favorite worlds ever. I love the author‘s phrasing, descriptions, and world building. So believable, so immersive, so poetic. I hope you love it as much as I do. #LetterL #alphabetgame @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

1. Lirael from tagged book
2. Hers
3. Visit her library and talk to Mogget and The Disreputable Dog
I‘m loving this series! Lirael picks up the story of the Old Kingdom a generation after Sabriel. There‘s another strong, capable female lead, but also alternating perspectives between two main characters. Fantastic character development & worldbuilding, more Mogget, and the Disreputable Dog (who‘s definitely more than a sidekick)! I appreciated the subtle exploration of some heavy themes—trauma, depression, and deep feelings of not fitting in.
I am thoroughly enjoying Tim Curry's narration of the Abhorsen books. Lirael is particularly one of my favourite characters in the Old Kingdom. I just love the story of the Clare and how she comes to discover who she is. I've always found Sam's character a bit annoying, but Lirael's story more than makes up for it.

Ready to get stuck into the story. I loved Sabriel and Touchstone's relationship in the first novel, so I'm really excited to see where life has taken them. The epilogue was extra spooky (just the way I like it). #currentlyreading #garthnix #covercrush #fiction #fantasy #lirael #catsoflitsy
Finished Sabriel last month, so I thought I'd keep the saga going :) #covercrush #cover #fantasy #garthnix #fiction #book #lirael #currentlyreading
One of my favorite ways to pass the time is with a good book and a cold beer 😻
That‘s another book finished. Only about 3 books behind on my goal. That‘s not to bad. And with not working because of transfer issues maybe I can get caught up a little.....
This is book 2 of the Abhorsen Series by Garth Nix. I did take a break from reading this during my OWLs but I still really enjoyed it. Need to go pick up the next book now....

Back to this one....should finish it soon. I do really enjoy the world and how connected everything is.

I called this one a pick, but it‘s more halfway pick, halfway so-so. There‘s so much emo and self pity it‘s hard to get through (teenagers, amirite?), but in the end, I found it worth the time spent reading it. 3/5 ⭐️
This series should be a movie! At the very least, Netflix needs to pick it up for a season or 5. 😍
Giant mug of hot chocolate and a book to relax after a stressful day. I can start my Charms O.W.L. tomorrow so maybe I can finish this one tonight...?
Lirael just said she could see charter marks for repelling dust running around the room... this is magic I need to learn how to cast! 🧙♂️My Disreputable Dog, Story, says good morning.
Reading and watching basketball... Go blue!

Picking this one back up. Today is a much needed break from the packing craze going one over here.
View from my kitchen window as I was starting the fourth chapter of Lirael. Finally getting bird visitors! This morning it was a handsome cardinal, driving my cat wild. ^^
Jumping into this read today. Thought a break from all that throne fighting would be good. And breaking in a new bookmark.

What did the Seven do way back when?
Why, they wove the Charter then
Five for the warp from beginning to end
Two for the woof to make and mend
That's the Seven, but what of the Nine
Why of the two who chose not to shine?
The Eighth did hide, hide all away
But the Seven caught him and made him pay
The Ninth was strong and fought with might
But lone Orannis was put out of light
Broken in Two and buried under hill
For ever to lie there wishing us ill
Lirael is the sequel to Sabriel and it's the first half of a story that concludes in Abhorsen. In both Lirael and Sam, this novel explores what it means to find your vocation while telling a riveting fantasy adventure.
Any book in the Abhorsen series, especially the middle of the original trilogy Lirael.... Or a bit of Potter 😉

Having re-reading this after 12+ years I forgot how much the main characters, Lirael and Sameth, annoy me so much. There is too much self pity going on between the two of them I can‘t handle it. Sabriel was such a strong character in the first book that reading the second felt like a drag. I did enjoy more of the Charter Magic world and loved seeing that expand from the first book.

1. The Disreputable Dog
2. No 😥 it‘s something my husband and I cannot agree on
3. Whales
4. Maybe a dolphin or some kind of bird
Second installment in the Old Kingdom series. The Clayr‘s spural library may be my favorite setting ever. And the Disreputable Dog is one of my favorite characters.
I'm finally awake so it's time to start reading for #24in48 readathon. These are the books I have lined up for today.
The two eBooks on my Kindle are Geekerella by Ashley Foston and By Your Side by Kasie West. Let's do this!
Currently on page 61. I am loving Lirael. She's clever, and determined. I think I like her more than I did Sabriel.
Started this #audiobook while building a new microwave cart this evening. And yes, I checked out the print book as well as the 15hour audio 🙄
I'm enjoying Lirael so far, although I'm giving her a bit of side-eye for wanting to work in a library because she doesn't want to interact with people. I'm willing to cut her a bit of slack because she's a character in a fantasy world, but the sooner people abandon that idea of library work, the better.
Mogget and the Disreputable Dog 😍😍
This was my favourite in the Abhorsen original trilogy. I loveee Lirael and relate to her on a deep level. Sam was a bit annoying but got better as the book went on!
I am loving this book so far. I have about 200 pages left!
Lirael is one of the favourite characters that I've read lately!
One of my all-time favorite bookish canines is the Disreputable Dog in Garth Nix's Old Kingdom novels. #dogdays #anditsaugust
The only thing I remembered about this book was the big revelation at the end, so this was almost like reading it for the first time. I really enjoyed it. It's good fantasy and since this covers more years and characters than Sabriel does, I felt like I got to see more of the world.
#anditsaugust #girlfriends
It took me a while to find an appropriate book for this one. I couldn't think of any books I've read with female friends. Except Trixie Belden and Honey Wheeler. But I use Trixie for so many prompts here.
Someone asked me a question about Lirael. Then I remembered that Lirael's only friend is the Disreputable Dog. These two girlfriends are an amazing team, working together in Death to keep the dead under control.
