‘Who is Eliza Fanning‘
Part historical, part present day. This book would have been absolute perfection and a full 5 stars if it was just the historical story. I wasn‘t keen on the present day aspect and could have done without it
as it was boring and I wasn‘t very interested in the characters
The characters in the historical part were however brilliant and I can see them sticking with me for a long time

tpixie Yes loved The historical part!! 2mo
tpixie Love the cover too! #CoverArt #Cover (edited) 2mo
Cazxxx @tpixie I wish it was only the historical part, would have been perfect and I love the cover too! 2mo

marleed I felt the same way. 2mo
tpixie @Cazxxx @marleed yes, I agree. The dual timeline is so popular now with historical novels, I am beginning to feel like they think it‘s necessary, when it‘s not. 2mo
Cazxxx @marleed I‘m glad it wasn‘t just me 2mo
Cazxxx @tpixie yes I feel the ásame. It wasn‘t necessary at all 2mo

I bought these two books yesterday in a small & local bookstore. I didn‘t remember the title of the first, only the cover and the rough storyline 😅. It turned out there A LOT of blue books with birds on them, featuring an Italian family😂. Must be a trend.

Mitgift is nominated for the Deutsche Buchpreis!

The Mermaid | Christina Henry
post image

Christina Henry has been my go to author for the #FairytaleReadingChallenge. This book did not disappoint. Our mermaid, Amelia, ends up as an attraction at one of PT Barnums oddity shows. Not as dark as some of her other work, this one was more of a feminist read. I liked it. @Charityann

hannah-leeloo Oooh I haven't read this one yet but have read some of her other books. I'll have to bring this one forward to read 📖❤ 6mo
Charityann Sounds interesting!😃 6mo
Velvetfur Oohh I got this recently in a charity shop, it had been on my TBR for a while... I'm glad to read your thoughts on it too! 😊 6mo
BookishMarginalia What a pretty #cover! 6mo

Today's purchases. Drawn to The Mercies largely due to its awesome cover. Drawn to the earthlings cause of the author and well, it sounds weird! Shall start with the tagged one.

BookishMarginalia Agree! That #cover rocks! 6mo
kellock @BookishMarginalia it's the page ends that are amazing I'll maybe post them another time 6mo
erzascarletbookgasm Earthlings IS weird! Both covers are great! 6mo

The Corset | Laura Purcell

This was such a good read, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Purcell weaves such wonderful and dark stories, everything I have read of hers I have really liked and recommended to others.

The two main characters are so different and yet drawn to each other and their stories, the twist at the end was great and I didn‘t see it coming, a enthralling read 👍🏼

erzascarletbookgasm I enjoyed this too. 👍 Will definitely read her others. 6mo
