I really like Alison Weir but this for me fell a bit flat. Perhaps it‘s because the story adds nothing new to my knowledge of the time and compared to some of the other novels I have read it felt a little fast and at time perfunctory. Henry is a complex character and I feel like we never really see that complexity #bookedintime @Cuilin

This is a fascinating and vivid interpretation of Henry VIII‘s life. It‘s well researched and really brought him to life for me. Henry was a wily old fox but quite a grim and complex character, too. It makes for compelling reading and is an excellent piece of historical fiction. At over 600 pages it‘s not short, but it‘s very entertaining and quite the page turner. I‘m now looking forward to reading the last three Six Tudor Queens. #Pigeonhole

I adore reading about Henry VIII, a very neurotic individual. Fun to read about, though I‘d not like to meet him! #NeuroticSociety #FierceFeb

#readjanuary #royals these are books i haven't read yet (still plan to) from back when i was intrigued by the Tudor reign. 👑
