Love the mysterious set up. Of course, we fan readers of this series know what exists in the North, but to start the story this way for Elinor is splendid. Creates spooky vibes 👏🏼📚💝. On Page 22

I love that Nix‘s Old Kingdom series isn‘t a chronological series but allows him the freedom to bounce around in time. Book 6: Terciel & Elinor jumps some 30 years prior to the birth of Sabriel, the main character of the first book in the series. He also has managed to produce six books in the series that can be read independently of the series and in any order. The creative freedom absolutely shows in each book, a tremendous gift for the reader.
I started this series last December. Might as well finish it this December.
Before Sabriel, Elinor was living with a domineering mother, an overly cautious housekeeper, and a juggling stable master. Terciel was the Abhorsen in waiting, terrified to take over the mantle of Abhorsen. And Kerrigor was on the rise.
A fantastic return to the Old Kingdom! A fun character exploration of Sabriel‘s parents. More insight into Ancelstierre politics. More Clayr! More knowledge of charter magic! Not nearly enough Mogget. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
This wasn‘t my favorite of the series, but I enjoyed returning to the Old Kingdom. Since this is a prequel, I felt it lost a lot of tension, since it was pretty clear to me who would die and who would live. I also felt the romance was a bit too rapid to take seriously. However, I enjoyed the ride.
Started reading this today. I‘m enjoying it (and it‘s going quickly!) but I just realized that if it‘s about Sabriel‘s parents there‘s no way it has a happy ending 😭
Head back to the Old Kingdom to meet Sabriel's parents in this prequel from Garth Nix. I love this series and really enjoyed these characters, but this book mostly adds context about Kerrigor.
I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 351.

Can't wait to return to The Old Kingdom for the story of Sabriel's parents.
Cosy blanket and cup of tea at the ready and the sound of rain outside #bliss #currentlyreading #nextread
More #bookmail as I love and can't resist The Old Kingdom books (well except one lol). Looking. Forward to this one telling the story of Sabriel's parents
The story of Sabriel‘s parents is filled with danger, adventure, romance &, of course, magic. In other words, it‘s everything you would expect from a fantasy written by Nix. I really enjoyed this prequel to Sabriel & the opportunity to spend more time in the Old Kingdom series. Fans of the series will surely love it. For those just discovering the series, this book stands on its own & is a great introduction. Definitely recommended.
This looks so fun! @TracyReadsBooks Unfortunately not free but it does include a copy of the book and a signed bookplate. Here to register https://www.eventbrite.com/e/garth-nix-with-laini-taylor-terciel-and-elinor-tick...
A prequel to Sabriel and the Old Kingdom series? Yes please! Perfect reading for a cold, overcast day.
I can't wait for Garth Nix's latest Old Kingdom book to come out!
