A woman walks alone at the foot of Mount Sengoku. A man appears, saying hes been waiting for her, and invites her to a nearby village. Surprisingly, the village is covered in hairlike volcanic glass fibers, and all of it shines a bright gold. At night, when the villagers perform their custom of gazing up at the starry sky, countless unidentified flying objects come raining down on themthe opening act for the terror about to occur! -- VIZ Media

Junji Ito's works still draw me in. The story never flattens or faulters. Leaves me haunted and questioning what we truly find terrifying of the unknown. #manga

Mehso-so

I hate to give this a “so-so“ but it really was between that and a “pick“. I love Ito. I love his artwork. I love his style. This book, though... I don't know.... it didn't have the same oomph his other works have. It is my least favorite of the stuff I've read of him. And if anyone wanted to jump into ITO, please do NOT start with this one.

Gonna try to work on this #GraphicNovel I feel like if I can focus on different panels it might be easier to read than just looking at words. (It will help me ease into “reading”)

In the spirit of the holidays I won't subject my feed to a description of Junji Ito's latest. I will say that I shuddered all the way through chapter 4 & the ending of the book was surprisingly moving for an Ito work. I liked this one more than the last full length work I read by him: Remina. Really looking forward to picking up his recently published collection of shorter works.

Not my favourite by Junji Ito but I could never dislike anything by him. I loved the cosmic horror and the strangeness, and I felt like it was less gross than some of his other ones. Quite a short, straightforward story.

Some creepy panels here and overall beautiful artwork, but the story was definately not my favorite of Junji.
