Mistletoe Christmas
Mistletoe Christmas: An Anthology | Eloisa James, Erica Ridley, Christi Caldwell, Janna MacGregor
12 posts | 11 read | 7 to read
From four beloved writersEloisa James, Christi Caldwell, Janna MacGregor, and Erica Ridleycomes a hilarious tale of a Christmas house party that serves up love and scandal in equal measure! The Duke of Greystokes Christmas Revelry is famous throughout the British Isles for its plays, dancing, magical grotto not to mention scandals leading to the marriage licenses he hands out like confetti. But not everyone welcomes a visit from Cupid. Lady Cressida, the dukes daughter, is too busy managing the entertainmentsand besides, her own father has called her dowdy. Her cousin, Lady Isabelle Wilkshire, is directing Cinderella and has no interest in marriage. Lady Caroline Whitmore is already (unhappily) married; the fact that she and her estranged husband have to pretend to be together just makes her dread the party all the more. But not as much as Miss Louisa Harcourt, whose mother bluntly tells her that this is her last chance to escape the horrors of being an old maid. A house party so large that mothers lose track of their charges leads to a delightful, seductive quartet of stories that you will savor for the Season!

4 Christmas romance novellas by 4 authors all at the same Christmas event. I liked the first and third story, but the the second was just okay, and I didn't enjoy the last story much at all. Despite all the Christmas things, the anthology just didn't feel particularly Christmasy.

These are 4 different novellas but all the characters in these novellas are related since the plot is around the Duke of Greystick‘s Christmas Revelry party. All the stories are cheesy as expected in these historical romances with funny scenes. They are simple stories but I really enjoyed them. I think I liked less the first one. The second and the third were my favorite ones. The last one was ok. 3⭐️

Four interconnected historical romance stories about the house party to end all Regency house parties! I appreciated the different couples all being in the same venue. It's a charming conceit!

Unfortunately I still am not a huge fan of short stories and the Eloisa James was the only story I really got into. More the format than a reflection on the authors, I'm sure.

CoverToCoverGirl Short stories aren‘t my fav either. 2y

I was really looking forward to this one, as two of my favorite historical romance authors contributed were included. Unfortunately it just overwhelmingly meh. Erica Ridley‘s story is the best one overall. The other three stories I mainly just skimmed due to general boredom. 2.5⭐️

It's December! And I read a bunch of seasonal books ahead of time so you didn't have to. Recommendations from this year and a few from previous years are on my blog:
http://readingenvy.blogspot.com/2021/12/holiday-reading-recommendations-2021.htm...

Before you @ me, I know Hanukkah and Christmas are not the same. But the protagonist is a romance novelist who loves Christmas until her publisher asks for something different.

MeganAnn Great list! I‘m adding several of these to my TBR📚❤️✨ 2y

Currently alternating reads with holiday fare for a roundup I hope to offer early December. These four interlocking stories all take place during the same holiday revelry, in 1815.

Four romance writers. Four novellas set at 'the' Christmas house party of the Regency era.

I enjoyed Eloisa James' and Christi Caldwell's stories, but they felt a bit stilted. Yet, I really loved the stories by Janna MacGregor and Erica Ridley.

All in all, a lovely Christmas romance read.

What a lovely set of short stories, perfect for the holidays! Sweet stories with just enough heat, and all connected to each other via a single party. I might have saved Eloise James‘s story for last though; that was probably my favourite. Ooh, but I did enjoy the glimpse of the next Revelry.
