Riveted_Reader_Melissa Sorry for the late post. I had a hard time getting into this one and ended up DNFing it for now. Even the audiobook wasn‘t grabbing me, which is unusual with the Star Wars audiobooks. So I‘m thinking it might have just been me and the crazy holidays...I‘ll circle back to it at a later date and try again. Otherwise it seemed to be hit or miss with the reviews I saw some of you post. 3y
BookwormAHN It was okay but it strayed off in weird directions in the middle. I rather enjoyed the ending. 3y

This is the second book for Alphabet Squadron. It was good but it went in some weird directions and other than a certain former torture Droid, I didn't really like or connect to any of the characters. I did enjoy Hera Syndulla parts but I wish she had been in it more.

Sorry #StarWarsBuddyRead, but I just could not get into this one this month. I‘m not sure if it was me or the narrator for this one (which is odd because usually I love these on audiobook), but my mind kept drifting every time I tried. I‘ll circle back later, maybe another time or on ebook if I can find it and see if that helps. 🤷‍♀️

BookwormAHN I'm still reading it but it's definitely not as good as the Aftermath trilogy. 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BookwormAHN yea...I‘ve read a lot of hate for that trilogy, but I enjoyed it. Just enough of the characters we grew up with, and I loved the new additions and the bonds they formed. This group I‘m having trouble connecting with them, I love Wyl and Chase, I wish there was more backstory there, but by now I should be feeling something for Yrica, like we did Jas, but she‘s just coming off bland to me. And Kairos needs a story already, ⤵️ (edited) 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa ...something besides stoic, quiet, mystery. I think it may be the author, because I remember having trouble with his other Star Wars book I read too, 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Compare Sinjir to Yrica....Sinjir was a Loyaly officer, and in the beginning of the first book we had enough backstory that you already felt bad for him as he drank himself to oblivion. Yrica, I‘m still really unclear about her motivations... or Nath‘s for that matter. 🤷‍♀️. And there‘s so much to work with so I don‘t understand why it‘s not clicking. 3y
BookwormAHN And to complicate matters more in the chapter I'm in Chass is having issues with one of the Force cults. 3y

A great follow-up to the first book! Freed doesn't fall into the 'Second book in a trilogy' trap. I loved how he develops the characters, how their relationships change and deepen, how we learn more about them.

No, I did not care for the fighting. Only for the characters, because they are the reason I enjoy those books so much.
