Maia Tamarin proved her skill as a tailor when she wove the dresses of the sun, the moon, and the stars, but it will take more than a beautiful gown to hide the darkness rising up within her. . . . The stakes are higher than ever in this breathtaking sequel to Spin the Dawn, perfect for fans of Six of Crows. Maia Tamarin's journey to sew the dresses of the sun, the moon, and the stars has taken a grievous toll. She returns to a kingdom on the brink of war. Edan, the boy she loves, is gone--perhaps forever--and no sooner does she set foot in the Autumn Palace than she is forced to don the dress of the sun and assume the place of the emperor's bride-to-be to keep the peace. When the emperor's rivals learn of her deception, there is hell to pay, but the war raging around Maia is nothing compared to the battle within. Ever since she was touched by the demon Bandur, she has been changing . . . glancing in the mirror to see her own eyes glowing red; losing control of her magic, her body, her mind. It's only a matter of time before Maia loses herself completely, and in the meantime she will stop at nothing to find Edan, protect her family, and bring lasting peace to her country.

This was not as good as the first book, it really dragged in some places and rushed through other parts way too fast.
A war, an escape, more war, demons, gods, and love all mash together in a story that follows a tailor who must decide what she will sacrifice to save her country, while never examining if her country is worth saving.
2/5 stars, I‘m glad I know how the story ends, but I was not impressed and do not recommend.

I loved Maia but at the same time I was frustrated because characters overall felt a bit flat. There was so much potential but I just felt how it wasn't really used.

Maia had to deal with hard situations and there was a threat present all the time. I was a bit disappointed how those situations ended, those scenes felt a bit anti-climatic.

I really loved the ending! It was beautiful.

TheSpineView How disappointing. Great job for finishing 12mo

I am bailing on this for now. I may come back and change my mind. There is just too much going on at the same time and it is not holding my attention.

This certainly made a good ending for the duology. I love how Maia fully came into her own here (that's real character development right there), and the Six Crimson Cranes references. The author took inspiration from several famous Chinese legends, and really made it her own in this world, and I loved that about this series too.

I don't regret sticking with this duology to the end at all.

⭐: 4

I enjoyed book one, but the end of the duology was so much better. Book 2 continues were book 1 leaves off and is adventure full to hep save Maia from the curse of book 1. The author did a great job telling the story and I honesty wish there was more to the duology.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really love the magic scissors in this and just how well done the magic is done in this book. I loved the romance. The war parts were great. I did feel like that this wasn‘t as amazing as Spin the Dawn.

5/5 for the last in this duology! This was such a great ending to this duology. The whole book was action packed. Maia and Edam were so awesome. I was happy to see Maia‘s father and brother too. I would definitely recommend this book.

Don‘t y‘all hate starting a brand new series and forgetting what‘s going on before the next book comes out? 🙃

I know I liked #SpinTheDawn because I rated it 4 stars on goodreads, but now that my library hold of #UnravelTheDusk has arrived on my kindle I‘m a little lost 😂

I‘m really enjoying it so far, I guess I‘ve just read too many books in between! Perhaps it‘s time to go google some spoilers of the first book 💕

Wonderful second half of the two-book... series? This book, like it‘s predecessor, does not ever seem to go where I think it will. So fun to read! 10/10

#88 of my year. This is book 2 and I can‘t wait to see how pissed Edan is going to be 😆 I‘ve missed these characters so much. Listening to My Future by Billie Eilish 🌻

Caffeinated_Reader This is such a beautiful story. Book 2 was brutal and bloody and so much happened. I learned in order to find your person that you‘re connected to, you must “Seize the wind, don‘t become the Kite that never flies.” 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫 I missed these characters so much. 4y

I really love Maia and her strong personality. Elizabeth Lim‘s writing is gorgeous... very lush and descriptive. I thought this was the perfect follow up to Spin the Dawn.

vkois88 @LibrarianRyan Hello!! ❤❤❤ I hope you're doing well 4y
LibrarianRyan @vkois88 I am. You? It seems the questionnaire brought people into my feed I haven‘t seen in a while. So that has been an awesome side effect. 4y

vkois88 @LibrarianRyan I'm doing well... I haven't been as active online with work and a crazy toddler but I definitely miss everyone. I guess I missed the questionnaire? There are certainly more people to keep up with, it seems 4y
LibrarianRyan @vkois88 yes. Lots. And it seems like some old timers disappeared either because they have gotten busy, or because it doesn‘t pull up into my feed anymore. So I have said hi to lots of old faces today. 4y
