Mystery of the Emeralds
Mystery of the Emeralds | Kathryn Kenny

Trixie's on the trail of a century-old mystery! She's headed to Williamsburg, Virginia, to find an old plantation house, Rosewood Hall, that was the home to the Sunderland family during the Civil War. Rumor has it that a cursed emerald necklace is buried in a secret passageway there. But after all that time, Rosewood Hall is just a ruin. Is it too late for Trixie to find the missing emeralds?

1. A lot of different favourites at different ages, I was a big Trixie Belden fan and the tagged book is the one that springs to mind.
2. My father reading Banjo Paterson‘s Saltbush Bill poems with me when I was about 6 or 7.
3. Ecstatic is a big call, I don‘t think I can answer that.

Thanks for the tag Liz😘

LeahBergen And now I feel like reading a Trixie Belden again! (edited) 6mo

Amiable OMG, I adored Trixie! I had the entire set. My mother gave it away when I was in college and I‘m still upset about it. 6mo

Pickpick

I had to decompress from "the first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club" with the rosy-cheeked, bright-eyed, shiny-haired Bob-Whites, amateur sleuths whose first rule is to be as nosy af. Trixie helps to clean out an attic, finds a mysterious letter, goes on the trail of mysterious emeralds, & almost passes out in a mysterious stairwell! The mystery is solved & they celebrate with cheeseburgers & chocolate malts. Good times ?

BookishMarginalia I loved these as a kid! 5y
batsy @BookishMarginalia The perfect comfort read 💚 5y

mabell Fun!! And great review! 😂😂 I keep thinking about it, but I‘m nervous to reread them 😳 5y
Tanisha_A What fun this book sounds! Awesome review! 🥳 5y
Cathythoughts Good times indeed 💕💕👏🏻 5y
batsy @TrishB 😁 5y
batsy @mabell @Tanisha_A Thank you ❤️ 5y
batsy @mabell I understand being nervous that it won't live up to nostalgia. They're pretty predictable & formulaic, so it helps to read them when in the right mood 😂 5y
batsy @Cathythoughts 😁👍🏽 5y
daniwithtea I love Trixie Belden! I picked up a couple from the library last year, and they really are a great light read, even all these years later. 5y
mabell @batsy When the mood strikes, I‘ll have to just dive in! 5y
batsy @daniwithtea Yes! ❤️ 5y
LeahBergen My kind of celebration. 😆 5y
batsy @LeahBergen Mine too 😂 5y
readinginthedark Definitely an opposite read! 😆 5y
Suet624 The need to relax the brain is 👍 5y
batsy @Suet624 So essential! I see my comfort reads piling up this year if it continues this way 😬 5y
Suet624 I know. It‘s been a challenging reading year for me. Tough reads that have made me question whether good/love can win. 😞 I swing between depression and outrage. ☺️😘 5y
batsy @Suet624 So much same ❤️❤️ 5y
Suet624 I just finished a delightful book that I‘ll post about shortly. Of course Vermont and the specific area I live in is a major character in the story. It was a breath of fresh air. I can send it along if you want to give me your address. suet624 at gmail. 5y
batsy @Suet624 You're so sweet to offer Sue but please don't worry about it! International postage is nuts and perhaps it's a book you might want to revisit? ❤️ 5y
Suet624 Okey-doke. 5y
batsy @Suet624 Thanks for the offer 😘 5y
Tamra 😵 Takes me way back! I graduated from the Little House series to Trixie Beldon series thanks to my grandmother for both. They were such fun, I recall being completely absorbed. I‘m afraid what I‘d think if I read them now - don‘t want to ruin the memories. 😆 5y
batsy @Tamra I know what you mean, it can be hit or miss with childhood faves! I tried to reread the Nancy Drew books sometime back and got annoyed; I tried again recently and the formulaic silliness was just what I needed 😁 5y

Raise your hand if you're as tired of all these nearly identical book covers as I am of posting them. 🙋‍♀️ Number fourteen! Almost halfway through! #lovethesestories

Trixie Belden!!! A flash from my past. I didn't know they were first published in the late 1940's.

Tamra I didn‘t know that! 6y
Tamra Fond memories from the 70s for me. 6y

1. Trixie Belden, tagged book was my absolute favourite
2. Between a Wolf and a Dog by Geotgia Blain
3. I know I've thoroughly detested more than one literary character over the years, but can I bring one to mind now? No
4. Most recently, The Eye of the Sheep by Sophie Laguna. I found the characters and the story utterly unconvincing.
5. I tag @GlassAsDiamonds

Thanks for the tag @Cinfhen

batsy Trixie!! 💜 6y

Cinfhen Hi 👋🏼 @GlassAsDiamonds I see you‘ve been VERY busy playing host! It‘s quiet here, I‘m leaving for a 6 week trip to the states on Monday evening 😀super excited (edited) 6y
GlassAsDiamonds @Cinfhen 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have never regretted telling people Dec-Feb is the best time to visit India more.... clearly no one came in Dec but we‘ve been back to back every since early Jan and I‘m caught between loving that we have visitors and hating them all...!!! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ (inlaws this week.... must smoosh that hate!). US would be amazing - somewhere cold I hope?? (Must weather vicariously! 😊). 6y
