Faizah envies her sister as it is her first-day-hijab and she cannot wait until she gets to wear one. Throughout the story, Asiya experiences bullying while at school and she learns to overcome it. I would recommend reading this to any age group, I found it to be very inspiring.

It is a wonderful read aloud for a classroom!

This book won several awards, is a fiction children literature book, and was published in 2019. It is about two sisters and one of them is her first day to first wear a hijab. She gets laughed at and the younger sister talks about how great it is and sticks up for her sister. I would love to use this at any time in my classroom and at any age. I think it is a great story that shows being proud of who you are.

A book about a sister bond. A girl wears her Hijab for the first-day at school- She wears it strong and beautifully. Her sister admires her. I loved this book. Such a great message and story for students of any grade. A great add to a classroom library.

This book tells us about two sisters, Faziah and Asiya. They talk about the first hijab day at school. Faziah admired Asiya's blue hijab and spoke great things about it. Other people were making fun of Asiya's hijab and Faziah educated her peers on what it was for. Faziah talks about how much she admires Asiya and cant wait to wear her first hijab.

Today is the first day for Asiya to wear her hijab to school, and little sister Faizah is inspired. This book is a good lesson on acceptance and identity, as well as feeling empowered to stand up to bullies, even if it is to ignore hurtful words. This New York Times bestseller (realistic fiction) illustrates the story of the first day of school for two sisters. It‘s also the first day of hijab for the older sister. She wears a beautiful blue hijab, but not everyone finds a hijab beautiful. The two sisters come together to unapologetically be themselves! The Proudest Blue is a RF and New York Times Bestseller book by Ibtihaj Muhammad and S.K. Ali that tells an endearing story of two sisters and a beautiful blue hijab. The youngest sister admires her elder sister, who she calls a princess, and her blue hijab. She meets the confusion and malice towards her sister's hijab with positivity and beautiful comparisons. This is wonderful for a RA.

I read this for the Read Harder Challenge prompt, a picture book with a main character from a marginalized community. It tells the story of a little sister looking up to her big sister with pride as she begins to wear her hijab to school every day. A lovely story of faith and sisterhood. Beautiful illustrations.

These are three amazing books that celebrate diversity of all types. I read them to my nieces this afternoon and thought that each book offered lessons related to acceptance, understanding, and the importance of kindness in our lives. This is a great trio of books! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had fun this last weekend at the #pdxbookfest and attended a reading by Ibtihaj Muhammad of her new picture book. We loved this story about being yourself and a young girl‘s first day at school wearing hijab.
Also, wonderful to hear more about the life of this determined Olympian, and the first Muslim-American to compete while wearing hijab, and the first Muslim-American to medal.

And the message is so important: uplifting girls who choose to wear a hijab. It also helps childten who may not be Muslim see how beautiful and important the garment is.

This is an important book to have on shelves for representation and better understanding for all ages. It‘s also an uplifting story about two sisters. I love the illustrations. The colors are so vibrant, especially the blue.
