Obviously I‘ll read anything by Jason Reynolds. This is an ode to the “King of Letters” Langston Hughes of Harlem Renaissance fame and it happens at the Schomburg Library (qv The Man Who Built a Library by Carole Boston Weatherford). The guests include Angelou, Baldwin, Butler, Brooks, DuBois, Walker, Morrison and the like. Reynolds‘ 1st picture book.

Graywacke Awesome Tee. I loved that book when my kids were young. 4d
ImperfectCJ @Graywacke The other teachers knew it, but none of my 5th graders even knew who Grover was. I felt a little old. 4d
Graywacke @ImperfectCJ No Grover! They‘re so deprived! ☹️ 4d

Flora and the Peacocks | Molly Schaar Idle

@wanderinglynn It‘s arrived! Late in posting it‘s been bit of a circus here.

In 2010/11 I mentored a young mom who was terrified of peacocks like a phobia even pictures of them. She was light and full of laughter and had a fun sense of humor. She knew I loved peacocks and would gift me things but say don‘t open it I don‘t want to freak out. I love her as my child as I‘d mentored her her entire childhood. She died in childbirth January 19, 2011⬇️

TheBookHippie When she died we found a peacock wallet wrapped up 🦚. When Lynn said she had an extra one of these she kindly mailed it on having no idea how much this meant at first. We plan to puzzle this with her friends one of which was my daughter. Thank you Lynn. This means so much. 5d
wanderinglynn I‘m so glad I could add a little joy. Enjoy! It really is a beautiful puzzle. 💚🧩🦚💚 5d
LapReader I have issues with them too from my Nan. Her little sister was wearing green when she died and there were peacock feathers in the room. I can‘t have them in my house eg. a girlfriend gave me a tea cup with a peacock on it. I gave it away to the op shop. 5d
TheBookHippie @wanderinglynn ♥️♥️♥️♥️ 5d
TheBookHippie @LapReader 😵‍💫 I understand phobias. It can be so frightening! 5d

Friday was turning out to be a crappy day, but when I got home I had #bookmail, and that made everything alright (at least until tomorrow).

Leftcoastzen Bookmail definitely makes the day end better! Hope tomorrow is better! 5d
Ruthiella Yay for retail therapy! 5d
Bookwomble I hope tomorrow's ok, too (or is already being ok, depending on your time zone 🙂) 5d

This is the newest book by the same author.

Noticing by Kobi Yamada was the perfect read in the quiet of the morning on the day after my father took his flight from this world. May we all take the time to “pause and allow for the extraordinary“ that this beautiful life offers!

tpixie So sorry for your loss. Hugs 🤗 I‘m glad you found some comfort in reading. 🩵 5d

3 ⭐This book seems to start in the middle of the story. It‘s about a young teacher who has a new assignment and she‘s going to go teach school in the middle of the Amazon. One night the rain is coming and destroys all of her books and the community helps create new ones out of cloth and embroidery. And she realizes that these books are just as important as the books she had used before. The story is nice and interesting however, it is very long.

Bear Is Never Alone | Marc Veerkamp

3 ⭐Bear is a masterful piano player. All the animals in the forest sit around and listen and when bear wants to take a break all they say is more, more, more! But all bear wants is solitude. After yelling and arguing the other animals scatter. But the zebra stays behind, offering bear a story. This book is lovely, but it feels unfinished. The illustrator is a master artist, bringing black, red and white to help set a theme and a tone for the story

Persephone fails to see why this is a problem. 😹 She crawled onto the book after I picked up my phone to look up a poet the author mentioned. Silly cat. #CatsOfLitsy
