Clive Barker's Books of Blood 1-3
Clive Barker's Books of Blood 1-3 | Clive Barker
With the 1984 publication of Books of Blood, Clive Barker became an overnight literary sensation. He was hailed by Stephen King as "the future of horror, " and won both the British and World Fantasy Awards. Now, with his numerous bestsellers, graphic novels, and hit movies like the Hellraiser films, Clive Barker has become an industry unto himself. But it all started here, with this tour de force collection that rivals the dark masterpieces of Edgar Allan Poe. Read him. And rediscover the true meaning of fear.

This arrived in my post today. I‘ve not read much Barker, you?

I‘m trying to catch up on Candyman lore, which was birthed in Clive Barker‘s short story, “The Forbidden", from Volume Five.

I‘m ready for Halloween already. ???

My first Barker book and I was not disappointed.

My favourites were

The midnight meat train
Dread
Son of celluloid
Rawhead Rex

Some really gruesome but awesome stories!

Today‘s author spotlight: Clive Barker! The 67-year-old was born in Liverpool, UK. He was the executive producer for the movie “Gods & Monsters”. You may know he created the Hellraiser franchise, but did you know he also created the Candyman one? Besides being a prolific author, he‘s also a prolific artist, with paintings having been shown in #NYC. He‘s been happily with his partner, Johnny Raymond Jr., since 2009. #AuthorPotpourri #TheMoreYouKnow

Ok, I switched things up. I was feeling a little off so I went to the dark side: one of Clive Barker's short story collections, the Books of Blood v. 1-3, which was mentioned in one of the panels I attended at Comic-Con International this weekend. We'll see how this goes. I'm not opposed to horror if it is well-written. Here's a quote for you from the book. Wow.

Boyfriend's dad lent me two of his favourite books of Clive Barker's short stories. So naturally I jumped in, the first book has obviously been well loved and shows signs of being read again and again. So high hopes of some big scares within these pages!

Not a quote directly from the Books Of Blood, but from the author on horror in general. I think it's very true.
