⭐ ⭐ ⭐ This is my favorite horror movie, but the novel fell short for me. My full review can be found on my blog: https://suspensebookreviews.home.blog/2022/03/17/the-hellbound-heart-by-clive-ba...
Hubby and I are both big Clive Barker fans (from before we were together). I was lucky enough to meet him several times while he still lived in Liverpool.
Hubby did one better and worked with his brother and got invited to tea whilst Clive was there. Clive drew the pic in the book for hubby. I‘m not jealous.
Clive wrote genius horror/fantasy.

This book is kind of about being tired and I'm so tired lately. I'd love to read it when I'm in less of a depressive funk, but it's good this time too!
PS both people who are 19 in this book should be a bit older, I think
Started the next book for my horror book club today and so far it whips!
The first thing I opened was the pack of pens and I literally squealed and ran to find batteries!!! I blinded myself but I'm excited! I have been meaning to order non crappy diamond art pens for so long and I can't wait to try these out. I'm dying to use the bath salts and am digging into the pull n peels (my favourite!) As we speak. Laura Secord makes the best chocolate so I might try that instead of my coffee tomorrow. And the socks....awesome!
This book wasn‘t so much scary as it was shivers down your spine. The illustrations were haunting and added to the feel of the book. I liked the story and the characters and felt that every was explained well. But, I feel like it was missing that little bit that would make it five-stars. 4⭐️

Prompt: Children of the Corn
One of the first horror novels I read as a teenager. I was in love at first read. Two men, Randall and Jaffe, discover a mystical place called the sea of quiddity One wants to use it for evil and one wants to protect it. Their feud will last decades and destroy lives in utterly gnarly ways. Barker never shies away from the body horror. If there is a totally 80‘s horror fantasy novel this is it. Day 1 of 21 days of horror.
