pickmaybe i‘m starting to like sarah dessen. i‘m really glad i read this book, i really like it and i would recommend it to anyone. the end did seem a little preachy and idealistic but i can deal with that
pickCaitlin tries to find her self outside of the shadow of her "perfect" sister who ran away and her beautiful best friend Rina. In this search, she finds Rogerson, a bad boy and learns who she is along the way.

pickThe only Sarah Dessen I haven‘t read and I don‘t think it would have been as impactful if I had read it as a teen/college student. It was hard to read at times and reminded me of situations in my own life, but it was a very accurate and heartbreaking account of being in an abusive relationship.
panI've owned this book for so long & never read it. I have loved some of Sarah Dessen's other books, so I had high hopes. But I ultimately didn't like this. I think because it reminds me of old school YA, from back when I was a teen--more cautionary tale than interesting story. #BookSpinBonanza

The book started off a bit boring, picked up in the middle, and tapered off steady at the end, much like Caitlin. What‘s nice about reading all of Dessen‘s book at once is getting the world building of her own little nameless town. Again, no connection, but I did understand the feeling of being in my sisters shadow, wanting to forge your own path, and getting lost in a haze. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Late night reading....
My husband had to take on a second job on weekend nights, his main job already has him gone over night two-three days a week, and to help balance that I‘ve taken on a ton more responsibility. I‘m SO tired, and I‘m missing my time with him. But I‘m so grateful that he has the option and will to work so hard for us❤️ we have found a lot of balance this week, and we‘re soaking up happy moments to get us through the hard ones.

I appreciate the fact that this book touches base on abusive relationships at a young age, because I'm sure there's lots of people that relate to this book.. I just personally do not.
On the other hand though, I feel like this book had a lot of open ends. I don't want to spoil anything but I was just personally unsatisfied.
pickFirst off, the cover of this version is fantastic! And second off, this book really hit home for me for a couple reasons. Being in an abusive relationship is not easy. I have been in a situation kind of similar to this one. This book had me in tears a couple times. And I love it because of that. It is not an easy topic to write about. Just trying to write this post has me in tears. Fantastic job Sarah Dessen, fantastic job.

pickSimilarish premise to Lock and Key but I enjoyed this one more. Powerful. It's the kind of book every teen girl should read because it highlights some complex issues that are a jarring reality for many people. Reading Caitlin felt very real in that she didn't always make sense, or was logical, or did what she should've done but that makes her all the more relatable. Kudos to Dessen again.
pickThis broke my heart the first time I read it again today, it broke my heart again.
Caitlin is trying to figure out what her life should be like without her sister and then she finds Rogerson. He's charismatic and dangerous and she falls hard but Caitlin soon discovers that he isn't the solution she thought he was.

The relationship in this book is a bit different than others Dessen has written and definitely qualifies as a #BadRomance. #LyricalApril

I need to caveat this with, I don't dislike this book per se, but I didn't have an enjoyable reading experience with it and almost put it down several times. Of all of the Sarah Dessen books I've read, this is my LEAST favorite one.

pickI love everything that Sarah Dessen writes, and this was one of the first books I read by her. It's actually quite a bit different than the others. This book is a really good way to understand the psychology and rationalization of someone to stay with his or her abuser. #onewordtitles #photoadaynov16
