On a hot July morning on Sweden's idyllic vacation island of Sandhamn, a man takes his dog for a walk and makes a gruesome discovery: a body, tangled in fishing net, has washed ashore. Police detective Thomas Andreasson is the first to arrive on the scene. Before long, he has identified the deceased as Krister Berggren, a bachelor from the mainland who has been missing for months. All signs point to an accident--until another brutalized corpse is found at the local bed-and-breakfast. But this time it is Berggren's cousin, whom Thomas interviewed in Stockholm just days before. As the island's residents reel from the news, Thomas turns to his childhood friend, local lawyer Nora Linde. Together, they attempt to unravel the riddles left behind by these two mysterious outsiders--while trying to make sense of the difficult twists their own lives have taken since the shared summer days of their youth.

Oh, man. I had high hopes because this one started off strong, but the plot turned out to be rather disappointing. I loved the setting - it was very well written in terms of a vivid sense of place and time! But the characters didn‘t hold up, and the resolution of the crime did not hang together well at all. Anybody read any others in this series? Do they get better?
#trappedonanisland @Read4life @aperfectmjk

Read4life Sorry it wasn‘t a pick. But it is off the TBR pile 🤓 12mo
CSeydel @Read4life Yes, I‘m glad I read it! It wasn‘t bad. I might try the series again later; sounds like they get better 12mo
Read4life I‘m interested to see how it goes if you continue with the series 12mo

I hope the rest of the series is better than this one. This book was like half crime mystery, half homes and garden/architectural digest. I‘ll give it a chance. #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

Andrew65 Sometimes can take a while for a series to get going, hope it improves. Well done 👏👏👏 1y
TheSpineView Great job! 1y
CSeydel Yes! It definitely made me want to visit the Stockholm archipelago, but the final confrontation & climax of the action was so unbelievable, it was almost a parody. Not to mention Nora‘s constant sniveling annoyed me to no end. 12mo

Read this when I was looking for something fast and easy, which it was. I like the main characters, the pacing, the mystery, and the location. After a year in my house and yard, take me away to just about anywhere! Now I want a vacation home by the sea. But without the murders, TYVM.

If you‘re a fan of Camilla Läckberg you might want to read the Sandhamn murders series. Wasn‘t convinced by the first one (the tagged one), but I continued reading, and really gotten to like the series by book 3. Just finished book 4 ?

The first book in the Sandham series. A good start, a bit slow going at times, could have been a bit shorter. A man is found dead in the water off an island in Stockholm. Why was he there and who murdered him? The characters, pace, and writing style reminds me of Camilla Läckberg, sans the historical part.3,5 stars.

Started a new series. First I was like I really shouldn‘t because I‘m reading 100 others, but then I decided that since it looks like reading at home is what I‘ll be doing this spring, so... Here‘s to reading new series and more books 🥂

I enjoyed the twists in this one! It was a quick read and I didn‘t expect the way it ended. Murders. Family drama. Takes place in Sweden. Detectives. Unexpected twists. What more could you ask for in a light read? This will be my last novel finished in 2018 🎊

This one has some mixed reviews, but I got this book for free many months ago so decided I‘m finally going to give it a try!

This was a free Kindle download and it worked for #NordicNoir #Pop18 so I figured why not. It was ok, nothing memorable and I certainly don‘t feel compelled to continue on with the series. It was my final book read over #GreekHoliday and fine for helping pass a few hours. Looking forward to starting Peyton Place tomorrow💕

Amazon World Book Day 5:/9

Deciding to bail on this one has been keeping me from trying to continue reading through the free books amazon gave out during World Book Day. I felt like I failed in the challenge I gave myself. My opinion, however, has always been that life is too short to read books you don‘t care about and I could spend my efforts better by reading a book I enjoy than one I don‘t. Serious mystery novels have never been my thing.

keys_on_fire I feel the same way! And not only is life too short, but there are way too many books to choose from! 6y

I think I‘d classify this as a cozy mystery, sort of like if 3 Pines were located at a Scandinavian beach town. The crime-solving duo are childhood friends who grew up to be a policeman and a lawyer/mom who hates her job.

Mdargusch I started listening to this and wasn‘t feeling it. 6y
CoffeeK8 @Mdargusch I started and stopped it a while ago, it starts slow and I couldn‘t get into it.... but once it gets past the first couple chapters, it flies by. 6y
Mdargusch Ok. I might try it again. I need it for a pop18 challenge. 6y
CoffeeK8 @Mdargusch good luck 💕 6y

Forgive the bad photo quality - I finished this book in the Colombian jungle!

This was a solid murder mystery. Lots of great descriptions of food. I learned more than I probably wanted to about fishing.

Would recommend!

I enjoyed this murder mystery set in Sweden. A cool setting and good characters. The ending had some great suspense. I was a little annoyed that the relationships were left up in the air...and then I realized this is the first in a series...makes sense now 😃. #kindleunlimited #ku

Mdargusch I started listening to this and the narrator is so annoying to me. I‘m not sure I can finish it. I‘m glad to hear you liked it though. 6y
